Reconnect with nature in a spacious safari tent, overlooking the hilly downlands of Hampshire’s Meon Valley

The chances are the area around Brocklands Farm will have charmed you before you even arrive. The countryside drive through medieval villages and working farms is simply superb. But this is just the warm-up act. Even after such a memorable prelude, this brand new glampsite doesn’t disappoint. A secluded working farm, Brocklands is surrounded by Hampshire’s stunning Meon Valley, making a wonderfully rural backdrop for all those holiday snaps.

The demeanour here is relaxed to the extreme. Removed from the masses of tourism, there’s little to do on Brocklands Farm itself but absorb the natural environment. The site's two canvas cottages (each sleeping six) have been thoughtfully placed with far-reaching countryside views. Guests in these tents are well catered for, with a bathroom cabin (at the back of the tent) featuring a compost loo, basin and hot water for the shower, provided by a dedicated wood burner. There’s plenty of space for children to tire themselves out on the grassy field, whilst parents can kick back with a glass of wine on the comfortable outside decking.

Whenever you decide to up the tempo, there are plenty of outdoor activities nearby, including walking, cycling and horseriding on The South Downs Way, which is accessible from the top of the farm. Rising and dipping for over 100 miles between Winchester and Beachy Head, The South Downs Way offers some of England’s finest walking.

Brocklands Farm is certainly a site that owes a lot to its surrounding countryside and villages, but that shouldn’t retract from the splendour of the place itself. The facilities here are well maintained, whilst Buffy and Hugh (the owners) are wonderfully welcoming and on hand to provide helpful advice on local walks and cycling routes. So the package is complete – a countryside setting to relax in and a wealth of outdoor activities on the doorstep.

Brocklands Farm is completely dreamy in every single way. Buffy (the owner), the tent, the setting, the swing! She really has thought of everything. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Brocklands Farm Glamping - fc4b
We stayed in October for the birthday of our daughter and despite the wet & windy weather had an absolutely amazing time. Everything has been thought through, from the box bed which was huge success, to the bbq outside (which we only used to make a campfire due to the rain), the lamps & torches available as well as the lovely food. We ordered pre made meals which were delicious, went for walks and enjoyed board games inside. It was fun, great family time and very very peaceful. Having only 2 tents on the site makes this place extraordinary. Buffy was great to accomodate our needs too.

Guests love the fact that there are only two tents in a beautiful meadow with stunning views, so the peace and tranquility is something very special. The views will rejuvenate you with their sheer beauty and inside the tent everything is provided for a truly relaxing holiday. Children can play happily in the meadow or adjoining wood while the adults watch the sunset on the platform. Once the sun sets a BBQ is provided and a campfire pit for toasting marshmallows. This is definitely the place to unwind and enjoy the natural environment. Should you be feeling more energetic there are also many beautiful walks, both on and off the farm, picturesque villages to explore and a myriad of places to visit appealing to both children and adults. Please note that prices are variable.
Nearby attractions

For many people one of the best things about this site is the proximity to beautiful countryside for walking in. The South Downs Way is accessible from the top of the farm and there are grass tracks round most of the farm's fields. Further afield, there are a range of places to visit. Best known for its elegant garden, Hinton Ampner is a wonderful country house with a collection of furniture, paintings and objets d'art. The five hectare site is widely acknowledged as a masterpiece of 20th century design, with highlights including the dell, a sunken garden and the recently restored walled garden. The fascinating maritime heritage at Portsmouth demands a day trip. Here you can wander around HMS Victory, Warrior and the Mary Rose at Portsmouth’s Historic dockyards, as well visiting the impressive Royal Navy Submarine Museum. The city’s 'Point District' lures tourists with cobbled streets and welcoming pubs, whilst the Spinnaker Tower delivers fabulous coastal views. There is a wide range of habitats on show at the Old Winchester Hill National Nature Reserve. Butterflies can be seen in significant numbers on the hill during the summer months, whilst the reserve's woodland is home to dormice, badgers and deer. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Food and drink

You can pre-order BBQ packs directly from the site as well as pre-ordering a selection of freshly cooked meals. The award-winning Harriotts butchers, who were named as a finalist in the ‘Butcher of the Year’ awards are nearby. West Meon has a Village Shop, providing everyday groceries and local produce. Cuppacheeno Café is well renowned for being a pit-stop for walkers and cyclists, with a choice of protein packed breakfasts, vitamin fuelled smoothies and excellent coffee, roasted in Winchester! The Winchester Farmers Market can claim to be one of the largest in the country. 80+ producers attend this twice monthly market selling many meats, cheese, milk, cream, honey, breads, and fresh smoked fish. Delicious meals can be found at The Thomas Lord (within walking distance in West Meon), The Shoe at Exton (good for a lunch stop on a long walk as well as an evening meal) and Ye Olde George in East Meon.
