We love Muddy Creek
We visited this year for the fourth time. We love Muddy Creek. There is plenty of space to camp, clean and adequate toilets and hot showers. The owners are lovely and everything is well organised. We love the location, and an easy walk to lovely Milford and the sea. We will definitely be back next year.
We love Muddy Creek
This is our fourth visit to Muddy Creek farm and we love it. The owners are lovely and the campsite well organised. There is always lots of space to pitch, there are adequate clean toilets and the showers are always hot. We love the area and Milford is with easy walking distance which means we never have to drive anywhere. The village has everything you need (delicious fish and chips) plus the beach a few minutes away. We will definitely be back next year. Thank you
Not overwhelming, just another campsite.
The whole experience at the campsite was just about alright. The toilets placement to the size of the campsite is a bit odd, I was sympathetic to few that were camping at the very far end and if they really needed to use the toilet they’d have to walk for 3 mins to get to the toilet. The lands is even logs and bricks are provided. The campsite officially put up the sign they were full. But everyone could tell there was plenty of space and I think that was due to toilets availability for the number of people.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry that you didn’t particularly enjoy your stay. We have no choice where we place the toilets as they have to be by the drains but you do have a choice whether to pitch up near them or away from them. as we don’t dictate where you pitch. One of the main things with our campsite is the space, space to play rounders, space to run around and play, space not to be right on top of the pitch next to you. This has nothing to do with the facilities but more to do with wanting our campers to enjoy their stay.
A good well-run no-frills campsite on the doorstep of the New Forest
We camped here over the August bank holiday weekend. Whilst the campsite was fully booked, there was plenty of space around all the tents and never felt busy. Shower and toilets were basic, but were always clean and worked fine. Very little queuing too. Ice block freeze service was helpful. The site is well positioned with Lyndhurst (10 mins in the car) and Milford-on-sea (10 min walk) close by giving plenty of choice for shopping and dining out. The walk to Hurst castle from Keyhaven (again - walkable from the site) was fab. The only slight downside was the hotel next to the campsite; the security lights are on all night and there was loud music into early hours on a couple of nights. However, the campsite is big enough to get away enough for these to not to be a problem.
Really lovely relaxing camp site
Really friendly team at Muddycreek Farm. The temporary toilets and showers were great. Lovely hot water. We enjoyed the Friday evening pizza van. A lovely treat.
Spent 3 very nice days at Muddycreek Farm. Huge fields so able to pitch well away from anyone else. The owners could not have been more helpful. Lovely to be able to have a campfire. Spacious, hot showers. Toilets a little basic but very clean. Great location for exploring the area. Pretty little village with everything you need. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning next year.
A lovely rustic quiet campsite with plenty of space for our grandchildren to play and meet other children.
A great site for exploring surrounding area including villages, towns and beaches and the New Forest. Would return next yearb
Lovely site, great visitor recommendations from the owner
Muddycreek is a lovely sized site for camping, good walking distance to Milford on Sea with pavements. Second field is a bit of hike to the loos for the more lazy of us but sensible people had bikes! (It's really not that bad). Trees on all sides and good female loos, kept well. Showers in a converted horse stable were clean and very serviceable, no queues when we were there in peak season. Owner gave us great tips for beach and forest excursions with kids which were much appreciated. Would highly recommend. Only tricksy thing is the turning in/out of the site is on a busy road with limited visibility.
Great, traditional camping experience
Lovely site for those who want to camp simply, hot showers, plenty of space and clean toilet's - do you need anything else. We stayed a week, Polly the owner checked in every evening (even with our dog shouting at her), firewood was available from the office, as was ice block freezers, and simple site rules that people followed. Pizza on a Friday night is a must, my hubby has bought apple sauce after the hog roast pizza. Will definitely look to book here again if in Hampshire
Friendly and Peaceful
This was our first trip as a family of 4 with a dog to Muddycreek. There is a very definite family feel to the site with lots of younger families. Our children are early teens so not interested in the little swing, sheep and ponies but it was lovely to see the younger children just being children with their wellies on! There is plenty of space so no one is on top of anyone else. What we were particularly impressed with was the cleanliness of the facilities given it is field and, therefore, basic. There was always plenty of handsoap, paper towels and toilet paper and these were regularly stocked up. When we first saw the showers in the stable we were a little apprehensive but have to say that these were possibly the best showers ever! Hot and powerful! The toilet cubicles are possibly a little on the narrow side but cannot fault the cleanliness of these. There are little finishing touches (like the posh hand soap, glass sinks in the ladies, little fairy lights around the teeth cleaning station) that give off a little "glamping" feel to the site. There is a little field adjacent to the camping field that is used for dog walking and even this is incredibly clean and free from dog poo. We really felt that everyone there abides by the rules and respects the site. We loved our few days there and will definitely return!
Family camping trip
This was our first camping trip away as a family. It was fabulous, great atmosphere and everyone was very friendly. The quiet time was adhered to and welcomed as we have a 2yr old and 6yr old who were very excited. It is a short walk to the beach, local town and lots of horses and cows to see around the camp site. We managed to get some fire wood to have a camp fire, the wash rooms were cleaned regularly and sanitiser provided as well to help with cleanliness. Will definitely revisit. The only thing we feel could be improved ASAP would be the drive into the campsite. We don't know the area well and the sign was very small we kept driving past, also the trees are overgrown at the front meaning you cant see out onto the road or into the road properly before turning onto bends.
Good old fashioned camping at it's best!
If you're expecting clamping tents, luxury facilities and on-site eateries - this is not the campsite for you! But if you're a seasoned camper looking for a secluded, quiet, flat campsite in a great location for exploring the New Forest (Highcliff, Hudeford, Hurst, Lymington) then this is for you. Muddycreek is lovely. Lots of space so you're not on top of your fellow campers and kids can run/play freely. Everyone respects the 'quiet' from 10.30 rule which is great. BBQs and fires allowed with wood available from the campsite office. Plentiful hot water on tap for the showers and washing up sinks, and 'proper' loos which are cleaned regularly. The friday night pizza van is a great - fab fresh tasty pizzas! 15 mins walk into Milford for supplies, a pint, a meal...whatever you need! Really nice to meet and chat to the owner Polly who walked the site each evening and said hello. New Forest camping at its best.
A wonderful few days
This August was my first time camping at Muddycreek Farm, and my first time camping for nearly 15 years! The staff were so helpful, I can't thank them enough, helped me with my tent and made sure I was settled OK. The camping fields have a lovely relaxed feel, the tents were not crowded together and there was plenty of space. The facilities are good. It's a 20mins walk to the sea. It's not far to the village green where there is a butchers, bakers and a really good place to get coffee, plus other pubs, cafes and restaurants. Cooking on an open fire in the evenings was just lovely! and sitting by the fire looking up at the stars was a highlight for me :-) It was also really nice not to have to rush to pack up and leave on our last day. Thank you for my stay :-)
An absolutely amazing campsite
We spent 6 nights at Muddycreek and we absolutely loved it! Some of the key things which made the stay great: * Toilets which are regularly cleaned and stocked with loo paper and paper towels! * Hot showers all day round with good water pressure * Washing up facilities with hot water all day round * On-site freezers for restoring ice blocks * Open fires and wood for sale. Was a really nice touch to see the owners walk around each evening and great all the campers, making sure they had everything they needed. I would definitely return next year!
Great long weekend
We had a great 3 nights at Muddycreek Farm! The campsite has a relaxed feeling and was plenty of space in between tents. The shower facilities were basic but good and toilets clean and regularly checked. Very much recommend the Friday night pizzas and a visit to Braxton tea rooms is an absolute must (easy walk)!
Nice campsite, but sanitation inadequate.
Overall I enjoyed our stay at the campsite. It's a good location, and wasn't too cramped. However the men's toilets were unpleasant, dirty and one was broken. There is inadequate kitchen washing facilities, with just two sinks, leading to queues. Not much fun standing in the rain with your washing to do. Further, hot water wasn't always available. Just one drinking water tap. Showers are very basic, but did the job. Soap, and towels where provided which was good. I enjoyed the stay, but feel more needs to be done to improve the cleanliness, availability and function of sanitation.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thank you for your review. I’m sorry that you felt the men’s were not up to scratch. They are cleaned at least twice a day and we have had no reports of a broken loo which we have checked to make sure we haven’t missed it. All the taps at the site are drinking water taps, not just the one that is signed, and this is explained in the email sent to you prior to your arrival. We do only have two washing up sinks and most of the time there is minimal queuing but we will certainly look into installing another for next year. The hot water for the washing up is also 24 hour but needs 3 minutes to reheat the tanks between uses. I wish you had come to us during your stay and mentioned these things as we could have possibly avoided you feeling disappointed.
Our stay could have been better with better facilities
I absolutely agree with all other reviewers about the farm location and generous distance between tents, as well as welcoming and helpful management. But I think Muddycreek needs to improve on their facilities. The showers are in need of deep clean, as there’s unpleasant smell and spider webs everywhere. We’ve stayed for 5 nights with children and they’ve been avoiding to use the shower so I had to make them to go in there. The water was always hot with a good pressure. Ladies toilet was much better then men’s, which is not really fair in my 12 years old son’s opinion. Again, both of the toilets are required more deeper cleaning and probably more often then once in a day, especially on a rainy day and with so many people around. There was only 2 washing up sinks which is clearly not enough for a such large camping site, you don’t want to spend your holiday time for queuing to wash your cups. I think these things are very important and can easily put you off to return to the site or recommend it to others. I’m sorry but this is my fair review. We’ve been to the places with much better facilities which makes your stay more enjoyable.
We stayed at Muddycreek for 4 nights and had the best stay with our two kids and campervan. Location was brilliant as we could walk into Milford on sea and down to the beach, local shops and pubs/cafes. Jumped in the car and went wild pony spotting and to Moor Valley Country Park where we spent all day. Facilities were basic but exactly what we expected and needed. We will be back again! Thanks
Another fantastic year
This was the third year in a row we have stayed at Muddycreek and once again it did not disappoint. Owners are amazing, facilitates are great and the area is beautiful. Can’t wait to book again for next year 😁
Not for me!
Nice little campsite with plenty of space and basic facilities. But it’s right next to a hotel and they had a function with loud music on Saturday night and we could hear each and every song. Sitting out when the kids are in bed listening to nature is what we like to do but not here. It completely ruined the atmosphere. I won’t be staying here again unfortunately. Apart from that, the pizza onsite on fridays was a nice touch and Milford-on-Sea was lovely.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
I’m so sorry that you were disturbed by the wedding at the hotel next door. Unfortunately there is nothing that we can do about their occasional events, however we do advise you by email before you arrive that the hotel may have a weekend function and there is plenty of space in the fields for you to camp away from the hotel and not be disturbed.
Good fun and well run
Clean facilities, plenty of space, nice location, quiet at night and generally well run by nice people. Couldn’t ask for more.
We stayed here for 4 nights.
We stayed here for 4 nights. The facilities are good. Showers are nice and hot. The owners are so nice. Had problems with my car and they did all they could to help. Thry are really laid back with the kids. Woyld defo come back here.
Low key family campsite
Muddy creek is basic in a very good way! Soft springy pitches, flushing loos and hot showers meant we were clean and comfortable. It’s a quiet spot for families. We loved our nightly campfires under the stars- easy to stock up with firewood from reception. Our golden retriever loved it too. Lovely area to explore- beaches, crabbing, kayaking walks, day trip to Isle of Wight. Def worth booking for any pub meals in advance.
The campsite was fully booked yet there was loads of space and we certainly didn't feel like they had crammed everyone in. Owners seemed friendly and came to say hi every day. Being able to have campfires was great. The facilities are very basic but cleaned frequently, ladies were much better than the gents. If I was going to be fussy it would be to have some kind of temperature control on the showers. Yes they were hot but too hot for young children. Generally the amenities could do with updating. Would have been nice to have a recycling bin option but everything went in the same rubbish. Over all we would give it 7/10. We think good value for money and if we were to visit the same area we would consider using the site again.
Lovely camp site with great amenities and location
We stayed at Muddycreek for the first time for a long weekend. From arriving to find plenty of space to camp with a friendly welcome. The pizza on a Friday night was fantastic too! The toilets were proper flushing and kept clean and stocked and the showers were spacious and with hot water. It was a short walk from the farm to Milford on Sea which meant we didn’t use our car at all. Overall a lovely campsite with plenty to see in the local area - will be returning!
Just back from a fabulous few nights at Muddycreek farm. Great open campsite with lots of space and gloriously flat! The fact that they allow small campfires is an absolute win in my book. The camp hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Easy walk into Milford on Sea and down to the beach. Lots to explore if you’re out and about in the car or on bikes. The showers are hot, toilets clean. It’s pretty much all I want when camping…we shall be back. Thank you.
We camped for the first time at Muddycreek farm last week and throughly enjoyed our 4 days there. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed and it was lovely to see the children able to play safely and enjoy the space. The showers were lovely and hot and the toilets were clean. The daily check from the owners was a nice touch and we had a really lovely relaxed break.
Third time here and loved it as much as ever!
This is the third year we've been here for our mum's and kids annual camping trip. We love how relaxed it is with everything you need and plenty of space for everyone. Polly is very helpful and it's lovely she comes to check everything is ok. Make sure you stay for a Friday night as the pizza is amazing and means all you have to do is get the fire going and the drinks ready! We spent a day down at Highcliffe which is a lovely sandy beach with a great restaurant, the Cliffhanger, overlooking the beach. Milford itself is a pretty little village worth a walk to. Looking forward to next year already!
Another Fab Weekend!
We just got back from our second time at Muddycreek and had a fantastic time again. The site has everything you need and nothing that you don't need. The location is great and the facilities were spot on, the owner also popped over every day to make sure we had everything that we needed. Happy Days!
Great facilities in a lovely location
We really enjoyed our stay. The facilities were excellent and very well maintained. The showers and washing facilities are the best I’ve seen at any campsite before. It was a bonus to be able to charge our phones in the office too. The site is situated in a lovely area and we were able to walk to the beach. We really enjoyed eating and drinking in the cafes and restaurants in town. There is a bus stop very close to the campsite from which you can get an open top tour bus around the local area, we unintentionally caught this and found it to be real treat!
A lovely weekend
We’ve just returned from a few days away from this lovely site. A well managed with lots of space between tents - so even though it was full it didn’t feel like it. We were checked in daily by the owners to make sure were okay/didn’t need anything - which is always appreciated. Gorgeously hot water in the showers, plenty of loos (flushing) with excellent hand washing facilities. Washing up area is good with boiling hot water 👍🏼 The pizza van (Rural Pizza Company) on Friday was great - super tasty pizza & we didn’t have to cook 👏🏻 The only recommendation would be to make readily available walks / routes directly from the site. We know the owners could assist with this but they are only available twice a day so having a map available for campers to look at during the day would be great! The beach was lovely & close - great ice cream too! Hurst Castle is a must visit as is Bucklers Hard. (The hotel next door has a security lights which do shine into the field, we were pitched this side but the lights didn’t bother us).
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thanks for your great review. I will ask Johnny to hang the map up outside!
Amazing Campsite can't wait to return.
Fantastic 4 night solo camping. I look forward to returning. I felt safe and clean going to sleep. With the generous facilities and nestled beside the sounds of owls and horses after being under the stars feeding my woodburning stove. Perfect location for short drives to lovely beaches and woodland walks plus the beautiful historical, choc box Lymington. This is a trusted Campsite with a caring ethos. Would prefer to keep it a secret tbh. Thank you Muddycreek for such a wonderful holiday. What a lovely family running it helpful communication from the moment I booked.
Only our second time camping the site was lovely and not too many pitches which is nice so not on top of each other My 6 yr old loved the freedom but could be seen at all times Toilet and showers very clean and the staff very friendly Can’t wait to come back next year
Great campsite, brilliant location
A really great campsite, very friendly, organised but low-stress. Daily checks from the warden which was appreciated. All facilities were well managed, clean, clear and lots and lots of hot water for the showers! Great location for Brockenhurst, Beaulieu, Milford on Sea and High Cliffe. We really enjoyed our two family, four night stay.
Family friendly, relaxed and spacious.
This is a lovely site. Lots of space and child friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back. The showers are hot, always a bonus when camping, and the toilets were clean. Being free to pitch wherever you liked and enjoy campfires was an added bonus. The owners are friendly and walked round every evening chatting with campers, another lovely touch. The beach is within walking distance and there are plenty of shops nearby. It's the perfect location for exploring other areas as a day trip or just a short drive away. We will definitely be returning.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thank you for your kind review - so glad you enjoyed your stay with us.
Great family site -
Stayed last week-perfect location to explore the sea and forest. Great for a family with plenty of space on the litter-free field to roam and play frisbee, football etc (even on the busier evenings). Toilets were clean with no queues and nice warm water for both washing up and showers. Very much welcomed swapping out the freezer blocks. All quieted down for a peaceful evening by 10-10:30 every night. Will certainly return.
Very good simple and easy campsite
Loved the fact that you could have dogs and fires! We’ll set up site with friendly and helpful staff. A short walk into Milford on Sea and very close to a lagoon perfect for a bit of canoeing.
Amazing family campsite
I took my boys (1 & 5) on our first camping trip. We were amazed by the campsite , clean bathrooms, hot shower , even a climbing area for the kids. My older one enjoyed going to the toilet all by himself and bringing drinking water. And the little one just loved observing all the people near us. Everybody very friendly. We will be back next year!
Lovely pop up campsite
My grown up son, me, my Bestie and her eleven year old spent a lovely three days here in August. Great spot with clean loos, showers and washing up space. Office staff were super helpful with local activity advice. Nice ten minute walk to Milford on Sea for food and then back for a campfire and games. Just the rest we needed.
Basic camping with large area between tents.
This site was ok, the main plus point was the space between tents. We stayed over a few wet days but felt the owners could have done more to help with the mud by the toilets and site entrance. The ladies loos really needed updating. The sink unit was taped together and the whole block was tired. It was clean whenever we visited. The shower block slopes so one end gets the waste water from everyone else. Some adjustments could make this a better camping experience.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
We are sorry that you were not happy with your stay with us. There was an exceptional amount of rain during your stay which although our field is very fast draining meant that a bit of mud was created. We dealt with the mud at the entrance within hours by changing the access and within 24 hours had covered the small amount of mud by the ladies with gravel. We are a 28 day pop up site and we are proud of our clean flushing loos but yes there is some peeling wall paper but we have never found that this was such a big issue when they are kept clean. Most people really enjoy our hot free showers and don't worry that it is on a very slight natural slope. Perhaps you would do better at a permenant camping site but then you wouldn't have all the space that you enjoyed. I guess it is horses for courses.
Lovely chilled site
Very laid back close to Milford on Sea with great places to eat and drink - beach is fabulous. Solent is nearby beautiful scenery and swimming. Only very small negative more washing up stations needed, had to wait 20 mins as there are only 2
We had a wonderful stay here. The campsite is well looked after and the facilities are clean with lovely hot showers. We thought the attention to detail from the site owners was wonderful. Firstly we were shown on the map where the best beaches for swimming and paddleboarding were. The local knowledge was brilliant and we were told about a safe paddleboarding place we would never have found was it not for the guidance. We were also very impressed than on both of our evenings there the owners circulated around the campers checking that we were OK and had everything we needed. Very impressed and would definitely stay again!
Quiet and Spacious
If you are looking for a peace and quiet within walking distance to Milford this is it. The loos are clean, shower mostly hot, pitches are distanced. We didn’t see any staff but were only there for one night. We walked to Milford (which is really lovely-The Paddle Cafe does great food) and saw the bus passing frequently too. This is not a campsite providing activities or food (apart from Pizza Friday) so a base from which to explore rather than a destination.
Great mini break
Had a lovely 3 nights at Muddycreek Farm with 2 primary school aged kids, and another family with similar aged children. Great to have use of the freezer for ice blocks, good hot showers and plenty of toilets, sinks etc. Also appreciated the washing up station! Owners very kind and helpful and pizza company on Friday night fantastic. Enjoyed cycling to the sea, the walk to Hurst Castle and fun cycling in the New Forest. Thanks for a great holiday!
Simple, friendly, family fun
We spent a weekend there in August 21(just last week if your reading this as I post it). It was lovely. The weather was terrible Friday night and the 3 nights were windy, but the campsite wasn’t too wet, the showers were always warm and the facilities were perfect for the stay. The family running the farm and site popped around twice to say hi and ask if we needed anything. Our highlight was the pizza van on site Friday. Loved it. They even replaced the garlic bread that blew away from my son as we picked them up. Great place. Nice people. Simple, clean and tidy space. Need a better mattress!! Otherwise 5* to the campsite.
A fantastic find, 100% recommend
The site is so spacious and relaxed. The facilities are just what you need. Toilets cleaned regularly and the showers are brilliant, always hot water and loads of space in the cubicles - perfect for families. Set in a really good location, if you've got kids I definitely recommend The Smugglers Inn pub in the village, lovely beer garden and play area to keep the kids happy.
A little gem of a campsite
Perfect little campsite to relax and enjoy the surroundings. As owner keeps limited numbers there is no queuing to use facilities which are clean and replenished frequently (Toilets/showers/washing up areas). Lots of space, very chilled out. We had a campervan and awning and the land very flat and well maintained, not one piece of litter, very impressed. Logs on sale which was very convenient as we had own fire pit and sat until late under the stars warming around it. Just the mini break we were looking for. Local pubs and eateries only 15min walk and beach which was beautiful with views across to the needles was stunning and again spotless clean everywhere we explored. Spent time on The Village Green and had some beers from local wine bar which was well appreciated on hot day, will definitely book again Polly and her team came round and checked we had everything we needed each day and would recommend especially as dog owner we wanted to spend time away with our new puppy in safe setting and this definitely ticked all the boxes for us. Thank you for a relaxing get away.
A nice family campsite
We really enjoyed our 3 nights at this "pick your own pitch" campsite, there is lots of space to set up your camp and still have a decent amount of space from other groups. The facilities are as you would expect, good showers with plenty of hot water (I did have to endure a cold one on one of the days, but I should have got down there a lot earlier), good washing up area, good toilets, that were kept clean, and an added teeth/hand washing area, which you don't always see. The owners were really nice, and checked up on you everyday to make sure you have everything you need. The Pizza's on Friday night are highly recommended. Great food and a really simple process, pre order and they text you when your order is ready to collect, and don't worry about mobile phone coverage, it is very good. It's a nice walk in to Milford on Sea, we ate at The Smugglers Inn which was very good with really pleasant staff. We would also recommend a visit to Hurst Castle, however if you don't fancy a walk down the spit, you will have to walk to Keyhaven to catch the ferry. I will echo the comments about the grass length, it may be a little on the long side, but you will still see people playing all manner of games and sports regardless. On the whole a great "pop up" for families in a great location.
Great site in a great location
Very large, flat field with lots of space for pitching the tent and for the kids to play. It’s a 15 min walk to the village green with shops and pubs (ask reception for the route on the back streets) and another 10 mins to the sea. Facilities are clean with hot water for showers and washing up. All in all a great site.
Lovely relaxing camping trip
Really lovely peaceful campsite with a relaxed atmosphere. Loads of space and option to pitch where you want. Hot showers, good loo block and area for washing up. Lovely owners too. We will definitely be back!
Lovely setting - big grassy fields surrounded by trees, horse paddocks along one side, and walking distance to Milford. Really good owners - always around to help, and always did a walk round in the evening to remind people about the curfew. Only grumble would be facilities - the site is long and thin, and facilities are all at one end - a 5 minute walk if you can only find a pitch at the other. Also while the ladies toilets were nice and modern, the gents - though clean - were like something from a Conference football ground. Overall would recommend.
Horrific toilets. Ok showers. Rude management!
We arrived as a small group along with another small group. Before even setting up we was approached with just pure aggressive rudeness about camping together! Which we was not. We had just arrived and was simply talking. The lady was so rude If we hadn’t had traveled so far and for so long ( as we got stuck in traffic for 3.5 hours) we would of simply said politely of course to simply stick it On this trip the weather was not on our side. Which we got on with. When attending the toilets which I state was poor standards before the rain even started! When going to the toilet you get showered on Aswell by the holes in the ceiling! The floor was like a pond! And the stairs leading to the toilets was just hazardous!! The showers (stables) and when I say stables literal horse stables! The one thing with them that is positive is they was hot! One would even say to hot! But at least it was hot..
Absolutely loved our our camping at Muddycreek Farm. Facilities were very good and clean. Beautiful sinks in the loo’s. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good value for money. Will definitely be going back.
Simply Perfect Camping (nearly)
Pros- Plenty of space; choose your pitch site; owners lovely - checking up that you have everything you need every day; free use of chest freezers for cooler blocks; hot showers and enough of them to cope; toilets that are clean and flush well; great location as near to beach, shops and other attractions; A rope swing from a tree branch in the corner of the field provided hours of amusement for the children. We had a very enjoyable holiday camping here and will no doubt return. Cons - grass quite long and stubbly, no good for children's ride on toys or grass games (boules/children's golf etc) and tent ground sheet would not lie flat. Long bits of cut grass got everywhere, setting of hay fever. Freezer access only when office is open - ok once you have got used to the opening times. Pros definitely outweigh the cons at this great site. Thank you for a great stay!
We were a little nervous that there were no set pitches but there was no need to worry, with so much space we were free to select our preferred spot and had loads of space to enjoy. The showers were nice and hot and the toilets and extra hand/teeth area were all good. The freezer facility was also well organised. Overall a lovely campsite with a really relaxed, friendly feel. It’s in a great location for days at the beach or in the forest - we hope to return to Muddycreek in the future 😀
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed yourselves.
We stayed for 4 nights in August and had a great time. The field is large and flat and there was plenty of space between units. We liked that you could pitch where you wanted. The facilities were basic, but clean. The firewood was good value and the service was great. It was a nice walk into Milford on Sea.
A simple experience that resets the soul
This is the second year that I have camped at Muddycreek - although this year I stayed for a full week. For me, it's perfect. The site is huge and even before COVID, the number of tents allowed is restricted to give the feeling of space. When you arrive, you find a spot that suits you (and meets the guidance) and set up camp. You're asked to pop into the office to let people know of your arrival but its a very calm and chilled arrival. The office is open between 8 and 9 in the morning and again between 5-7 in the evening. For me this campsite is like an honesty box at a small boutique hotel. You're trusted to be a good human being, a good camper and camping companion to others in your vicinity. The owners will pop around every day to check you're okay - and for me this is wonderful as I often camp alone. The site is 0.7 miles from the nearest wonderful wine bar, the Cave (a must) and 1.1 miles from the beach - AND there is a pavement all the way from the site to both locations. I feel so safe and the village is so welcoming - you feel like you've lived there for years on day 3. On site, its basic but isn't that the idea? There are 2 washing up stations, 4 showers & 5 female toilets (not sure about the mens) - and I never found myself waiting...actually correct that I waited for 10 minutes one morning for the washing up station. I think the lack of waiting and angst is because the campsite numbers are managed and everyone is just so chilled that it's the opposite of a military operation. All the facilities felt well managed during this COVID crisis and the owners came back to the site during Storm Frances to see if they could help. I love this site...probably shouldn't say that as it would be nice to keep it a well kept secret. The walk from Milford to Barton with the treat of an ice cream or drink at the Cliff House is well worth it. As is the walk to Lymington. Tried the Cider Bar this year which was nice - and the Paddle on the Green is great for brunch.
Great Campsite in a Great Location
Muddycreek campsite is a large flat grassy field located 10 min from Milford in Sea. The field is large enough to have good space between tents if required and the facilities are functional, clean and adequate. The use of the site freezer to freeze ice blocks is extremely useful. The owners are happy & helpful. This site really is a case of what you see is what you get & if that’s what you want, you will have a great holiday.
Great pop up site...
We had a great stay at Muddycreek Farm despite the inclement August weather. The facilities were basic but very clean and everything worked perfectly. The location is brilliant with 10 min walk into Milford for dinner along pavements which was great with a little one. It's also perfect for trips into the New Forest and we did lots of bike riding and walks. The ferry trip out to and walk back from Hurst Castle is highly recommended. One thing I think could be improved is the lack of recycling facilities but that's only a minor point. Thanks for a great stay Polly.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thanks for the great review. Just to make it clear the skip goes to a recycling centre and is sorted for any recyclable materials.
Our first stay and wanting to come back
A very large site with plenty of room. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. For a pop up site we were very pleased with the facilities, clean toilets and hot showers. We arrived just as the storm was about to peak so had a cheeky one night stay in the adjacent hotel (also recommended). We were really happy the next morning to pitch our tent and start enjoying our stay. The Covid precautions (both on site and in the local shops/bars) made us feel safe. It is an easy walk into the village and we had no problems finding food and beer. Loved coming back to the site in the evening to see all the campfires glowing (very safely I must add, plenty of families with children on site) making a magical experience. Our stay was all too short but we would definitely come back again, so thoroughly recommending this site but please leave some space for us next August!
A great base to explore from...
The booking, check in, payment and arrival process was hassle free. Polly does a great job and gives you a warm welcome. Bascally a very large field, with loads of space for the kids to make friends and play on bikes etc... The facilities were clean, and apparently the Ladies was the best my wife had been too! Ace. Nice large pitch and open wood fire was brilliant. Made use of the Pizza van on the Friday, which too was excellent. We were able to spend the weekend there and cycle from the site to local villages and attractions, leaving the car alone. Lovely part of the world, where we managed to eat and drink well and take in the south coast.
Love this campsite!
We have been visiting Muddycreek Farm for years - first as a couple and now with our children. This year other family members joined us too. The campsite has loads of space so you can camp next to your family/friends if they come too and you can have a camp fire (which is what camping is all about for me!). The WC's are clean, the showers are lovely and warm and there is an area to do the washing up. The location is a great base for exploring the new forest - we have always found new things to do every year. It is walking distance to the village if you want to eat/drink out and there are plenty of options in that respect. This year with Covid to think about Muddycreek has stepped up to the mark with extra cleaning checks and even a little separate area for teeth brushing to reduce the load on the WC's - a great addition which I hope stays in the future. One minor suggestion/request would be for additional pegs/hooks in the showers for your clothes. We love camping here and will definitley be coming back!
Successful bank holiday family camping
We had a lovely stay at Muddycreek over the bank holiday. Great to get back to basics around the open fire! Hosts were very nice - helpful with a great supply of fire wood, freezers and local info. Site was just right - a field - and the facilities were basic but all you need - clean with a plenty of hot water. The 10.30pm curfew ensured even the biggest sprawling family groups couldn’t interrupt this peaceful setting. We’ll be back I’m sure.
Arrived during Storm Francis for a 6 night stay - the weather wasn't a friend but it was so nice to see the owners on hand trying to provide as much support as possible. This is my second stay in two years and I would return year on year and friends who visited me during this holiday are planning to join me. I have been to a number of campsites with far more facilities but its the rustic charm of Muddy Creek that draws me back. There are 2 wash up points - but I never waited more than 5 mins. 4 showers in a converted stable block - always warm water and again - always a free shower when I wanted one. 5 ladies loos always clean and tidy - never a queue. The COVID measures felt appropriate and I didn't feel uncomfortable at any stage. The simplicity of life here is its attraction. There are no formal check in measures - an office open for an hour in the morning and 2 hours in the evening but that's all you need. The owners wander around every evening to check in and make sure you're okay - which for me who often camps alone was just wonderful. The 0.7 mile walk to the nearest winebar is all along a main road with a pavement and it's 1.1 mile to the beach - all on pavements. It's a very calm and car free existence from the moment you arrive - which I absolutely love. There's a hotel right next door should there be any emergency whatsoever & the sunsets over the trees are a delight. If you like 'posh' facilities with an onsite shop and a swimming pool then this probably isn't for you. But if you fancy a simple life all sat around a campfire in a bobble hat toasting marshmallows....there is nowhere else I'd rather be.
Easy check in, tent went up in no time - luckily no stones in the ground. Clean facilities. Quiet location. Town is a short walk away. We would definitely return.
Great camping experience
Great location, plenty of space and easy access to the local town. Muddy creek farm has good clean facilities and was a perfect camping break. The hosts are lovely, offering to help us erect our tent on possibly one of the windiest days of the year! Definitely recommend 🙂
Spacious and relaxed camping
Love that you can just pick a space in the huge field, friendly owner who checked in to make sure you had everything you needed, quite after 10.30, posh (ladies) toilets, good facilities. Unfortunately, the ponies weren't out due to Covid, but that would have been lovely. Showers are a bit basic, but we're ok with that, and the entrance is on a nasty bend, so beware. But a lovely site, thoroughly recommend it to people and families wanting to get away (and have a bit of peace and quiet).
Short stay with our VW camper
Fantastic site, great location and easy to find! Met the host on our arrival, very friendly and helpful chap. Site well organized and looked after. Basic but well serviced and quirky facilities, would return for sure! Loved the arrival and check out times, makes a real difference along with the relaxed approach and feel of muddycreek. Will stay again next year
Back to basics.
It is a pop up campsite in a horses field (horses removed). Plenty of room. Pizzas on a Friday night were good. The toilets were clean, they are trailer toilets (the sort you get an an event), the showers were in a open shed type thing, the water was always warm. There were quite a few big groups but the site was quiet after 10.30pm. You can have camp fires which was good and you can buy wood on site. Would be better if the grass had been cut. For the money it was ok but would go somewhere with better facilities next time.
Fantastic pop up campsite
Arrived Saturday 15th August for 5 nights. Check in was easy, site was spacious showers were warm, toilets were all cleaned regularly. The addition of campfires was a wonderful addition, able to buy logs on site. The owners were so friendly and came round everyday to see if we needed anything... fantastic little pop up campsite and would recommend it to anyone ....
Fantastic stay at muddycreek
Arrived on Saturday 15th August to set up camp for 5 nights, plenty of room and check in was easy, site was very clean showers were warm and toilets cleaned regularly. The addition to buy logs and burn a camp fire was a wonderful addition . The staff were so friendly and the owner called round everyday to see if we needed anything. I would recommend a stay at this pop up campsite....
Relaxing, spacious, great location, clean and friendly campsite.
Stayed for 4 nights, mixed weather but can't blame the campsite! Brilliant location, about 20 min slow walk to milton on sea and short drive to loads of areas. We felt safe with their covid rules in place, which as far as I could see people respected and stuck to. One way systems in communal areas, sanitizer always available. Although this was a simple campsite it was alot cleaner than some highter spec ones I've visited. Showers basic but clean, spacious and always had hot water. Toilet blocks always had hot water and separate teeth cleaning area, always clean and had paper! Fires allowed and wood/kindling for sale and bricks available. The owners were lovely and always went the extra mile when needed, always said Hi on their rounds. Would definitely stay again and recommend if you want a no frills but awesome campsite.
Great spacious campsite in good location
Great spot for a campsite, short walk into Milford on sea and endless walks a short drive away. Site was well organised, spacious and facilities were clean. Campfires were a bonus and owners very pleasant and checked we were ok everyday. Thank you 😊
A little gem in the heart of the New Forest
This was our second stay here and we loved it just much as we did the first!! The facilities were always clean and well stocked. The site was not at all overcrowded, there was plenty of room to social distance. This will definitely not be our last visit. Thank you to all at Muddycreek farm for another great holiday.
Lovely simple campsite
Muddycreek farm is a very simple campsite which makes sense as it is only available for such a short period of the year. Given that it is only a pop up site I was impressed with the quality of the facilities. The toilets were obviously regularly cleaned, there was extra sinks for handwashing as well as plenty of soap, paper towels and hand sanitizer available. We only stayed for a night so I didnt use the showers but they looked decent enough. This was an experimental trip for myself, my husband and my 3 year old to see how we coped so we could decide whether camping holidays are the future for us. It was good enough that we have decided that we will purchase a bigger tent (ours was way too small to be comfortable!) and plan future trips. However we are unlikely to return to Muddycreek farm. It was great for the price but I feel in future I would pay more to go to a campsite with some kind of play area and a shop. However this is entirely due to my personal preference and not a reflection on Muddycreek.
Fabulous Pop Up Campsite
We returned on Saturday from a fabulous week at Muddycreek Farm. The facilities were great. The showers were hot, clean and spacious. They have a chair in there too which is great to be able to put your bag of towels / clothes. There are also two sets of hooks in there which is an added bonus. Friday night there is a pizza van which was delicious and lovely not to have to wash up cooking stuff. This campsite has a strict quiet policy and it was great that people adhered to it. I can thoroughly recommend this campsite and would definitely go again.
We enjoyed our week at muddycreek! And will defiantly be going back! Facilities was organised well, clean and all seem to adhere to the rules and regulations!
Really friendly very clean and the children loved it I will be coming back.
Lovely, peaceful, back to basics site
We had a fabulous two night stay at Muddy Creek Farm. Lovely big open field, with rope swing which kept the kids happy for hours. Basic but clean and sufficient facilities. Brilliantly located so we’re able to walk to the beach and Milford on Sea. Near lots of fabulous forest areas which we had fun exploring in the rain. Will definitely return - thank you
It was a nice campsite, lots of families and children playing, the ladies toilet were well looked after and clean with toilet roll always replaced when it was running low, the men's toilets are very basic, the shower barn could do with updating very basic, no electric to use a hair dryer, drinking water on site. The area was amazing with the beach only 4 minutes away and a lovely marina that is perfect for crab fishing a cute little town with ice cream shops, coffee shops, pubs and places to eat. We found a Saturday market in the nearest town from the campsite, also a Sunday car boot sale very close to the camp site. Lots of nice county pubs all around, with perfect walks through the New forest with the wild ponies.
Beautiful site in perfect location for adventure
We had a lovely 4 day stay in Muddycreek Farm. The site is beautiful and the facilities excellent and kept clean. We were there in covid times and the precautions for this were well devised, communicated and reassuring. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. The immediate town of Milford-on-Sea was all we needed to spend hours in the water and on the beach. A walk to Hurst Castle is fabulous and of course a wonder around the new forest - the kids were tickled to see donkeys on in Brockenhurst High Street!! Pizza van at the site on Friday night was yummy and we got Fish & Chips from Mr Pinks in town too. It was the perfect family break - THANK YOU...we will be back!
Basic but Perfectly Adequate.
It is exactly as it states and that was absolutely fine with us. Toilets, showers, washing up stations and teeth cleaning areas all good, clean with plenty of hot water. I do agree with the other reviewer about the very hot water out of the washing station but only a minor point. From what I could tell the ladies loos were a bit better than the mens but again only a minor detail. Plenty of room to space yourselves out, lots to do around the area, children loved it as did the adults, so what's not to like. Considering the times we live in at the moment this was a perfect, safe, getaway and as I said earlier the facilities were kept clean and well stocked with the necessary things you need, toilet rolls, soap, sanitiser etc so very pleased. One slight note, some people were using the freezers, made available by the site for freezer blocks etc, as their own personal compartments and I feel that was not quite right and might be managed better for all to benefit. As I say only a small point and not the hosts fault. Great fun, thanks.
My 3rd year here
We have chosen Muddy creek for a get away for the 3rd year it never disappoints we know what to expect always a warm welcome and tons of space, clean facilities and lovely hot showers..See you next year!
Wonderful location and great campsite!
We have just returned from four days camping at Muddycreek Farm - two mums with four teenage sons between us. What a wonderful and peaceful site. We would definitely like to come back! The facilities are brilliant - flushing toilets, hotel-like sinks (!), hot spacious showers, plenty of really hot water for washing up etc. We were able to borrow bricks to build up a firepit and we bought wood and kindling on the site. Polly and her staff are personable and helpful, and the ice block storage worked well. The site wasn't overpopulated and the extra precautions put in place to reduce covid transmission were carefully thought out. Muddycreek is in the most wonderful location - the road next to it isn't noisy, but the best bit is being able to cycle or drive to the beach (Milford on Sea or Hurst Beach) in 5 mins! Our boys all took bikes which they made full use of. We pitched fairly near to all the facilities which suited us well; if we'd been the other end of the field, any trip to the facilities would be more of a palaver to be honest. Perhaps some toilets and washing-up sinks at both ends of the field might be a good idea?? But for us, the location and site was brilliant and we enjoyed sitting around the campfire every night. I've always been a reticent camper, but staying at Muddycreek this week has converted me to the delights of setting up temporary home in a tent!
Basic but relaxing campsite
Just home from a 5 night trip to MuddyCreek Farm. Very large site with plenty of space to chose a pitch. We were fortunate enough to grab a spot with some shade from the trees as we camped during a very hot spell. Ground was flat but with some uneven patches. Toilets were basic but clean and rarely had to queue. Showers again basic but very nice to use and very warm. Again very rarely had to queue. 15 minute walk into town with a further 10 or so to the beachfront. Hope to come back next year.
A peaceful and friendly campsite
A friendly atmosphere with basic , but clean facilities...everything you might need.. Perfectly situated with a variety of settings within walking distance. Staff are very helpful and there is plenty of space between tents. A perfect escape from urban stress.
Well managed camp site
Great campsite not over booked, no queues for facilities. Had a lovely time exploring the surrounding area’s.
Relaxed camping in reach of New Forest beaches and woodland
Nice relaxed site with pleasant rudimentary facilities - warm showers are housed in a stable and there are several flushing cabin loos. We felt comfortable during our stay at Muddycreek during the coronavirus restrictions. The campers generally adhered to the spacing and the facilities were well stocked with hand wash etc. The field was a little hard and potholey which can be a bit tricky for the camping gear and the ankles (we visited during a heatwave). The Hay grass was a also bit scratchy on the legs and advise bringing plenty of bite spray!!! It’s walking distance to Milford on sea, which is a bonus. Excellent that they offer pizza on a Friday night. Only suggestion is that freezers are kept in a open building so that access of ice blocks is constant, rather than a very short intervals, we kept missing the opening times and thus our ice blocks remained locked up when we needed them. All in all a good pop up site, clean and well managed. Would visit again 😃
During a testing time a wonderful experience
A great place and fantastically run. During a very testing time it was great to finally get away and be able to camp. The site is well run and amenities are more than adequate! Showers are hot and plenty of water. Toilets were clean and cleaned regularly. Washing up area was tidy and hot water was plentiful. Only one issue that the washing up water was very hot from the hot tap, even I as an adult nearly scolded myself, maybe just turn the temp down a little. Great time and will be going back again!
Would definitely return
Loved the back to basics approach and masses of space. The kids had the best time and the adults were able to relax (on-site cooked pizza on the Friday helped with that!) Would like to return with friends next year.
Loved everything about this place. A weekend wasn't long enough for us. Lots of places to visit in the area, lots of open space to fly a kite! Everything was clean and well maintained. The ultimate for our group was being able to have a small campfire and do marshmallows 😁😁 we would defiantly return.
Relaxing chilled weekend
This is a lovely site, very relaxed and laid back and in reach of a great beach at Milford on sea. We camped in a small group of families and the kids loved the freedom. It feels like a very safe site for kids to roam around. Great facilities like hot showers and nice and clean toilets plus the bonus of being able to have campfires. The owners had put in lots of extra precautions due to Covid so it felt very safe from that point of view and generally felt very well managed. The site was nice and quiet after 10.30 too. We’ll be back!
Lovely relaxing long weekend
My wife, dog and I stayed at Muddycreek farm campsite for a long weekend. We had a wonderful time, the hosts were friendly and accommodating, the communal areas were keep clean, social distancing was easy and set up well and the weather was also beautiful which was an added bonus. We order pizza from the Pizza trailer on Friday night which was delicious. We would definitely return to this site again next year.
Camping at it's best!
Absolutely brilliant campsite! Basic as camping should be but has all the facilities you need! Sanitising stations outside toilets/showers/washing up station. Fab new sheltered area for handwashing and teeth cleaning to free up toilets, therefore government guidelines regarding Covid 19 are adhered to. As a very large family we had 3 large tents and were able to pitch with plenty of room with a large central area for our fire pit. Can't beat this place. Thank you Muddy Creek for a fantastic weekend xxx
Fab camping weekend
Social distancing was easy the campsite was set up well, facilities very clean with plenty of hot water Pizza truck on Friday evening was great and we slept well with no issues so overall a great weekend thanks Muddycreek 😊
Lovely stay at Muddy Creek yet again
Toilets and showers are very clean. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Lovely location. Have stayed before and will hopefully stay again
Lovely site for a weekend away
We enjoyed a weekend away on this site. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the facilities were really good. Plenty of hot water, nice toilets which even had designer sinks and the pizza van on Friday evening was a great hit. Very well organised and delicious pizzas. We didn’t particularly like the light pollution from the hotel Nextdoor (would stay on the far side of the site next time). The security lights are very bright and on all night. We also found the long grass a bit of a challenge when it rained - but it did dry quickly and wasn’t muddy. A track mown down the middle might be helpful to walk to the facilities if the rest of it is to stay long. The site was very quiet at night except for a very loud Houseparty (from a house about half a mile away) which impacted somewhat on our Sat night!! Totally beyond the control of the campsite and hopefully just a one off.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thanks so much for your review. Again I am so sorry for the noisy party that a neighbour was having - It was so disheartening when we work so hard to make sure that the campsite is a lovely relaxing experience for everyone. Hopefully it didn't spoil your weekend too much.
This was our second year at Muddy Creek and it was fab! The toilet and showers are of a good standard, you can pitch where you like, no restricted pitches. Who doesn't love a campfire in the evening?. We were a group of 4 families with a mix of primary school age kids and also teenagers and they equally had a great time. The dog had an amazing time too and loved the sea :-)
Best camping trip in uk
We arrived chose our own pitch and space. We were 2 families. We had such a relaxing time. The weather was great (which helps) the owners were available if needed. The showers were hot and powerful. The toilets were fine. It was the end of the opening period and BH so they were busy and over used. But they were what they were. The area was exactly what we needed a break from the rat race. Walking to the town was no trouble. Busy road but not far. Plenty of eateries and bars/pubs. A coop for all amenities. Close beaches. All in all an excellent trip. X
Happy family camp.
Our stay at Muddy Creek was lovely. The site is flat and even when full was not over crowded. Showers and toilets were kept clean day and night. Have a campfire is an absolute bonus and the logs on sale at the site make for a good blaze. Pubs and shops in the village are an easy 10-15 minute walk. Will definitely return.
Good atmosphere, friendly efficient management and clean facilities
The site doesn't come with an amazing view but it is spacious.
Lots of space
Lovely pop up site with lots of space and very flat. Despite being full the site was very quiet. Bit pricey but location was excellent. Showers not ideal when your neighbours water runs into your shower
Great trip. Good facilities. Easy access/find and great location! Thank you
Really lovely site. Easy access to the areas around. Would definitely use the site again. Facilities good
First camping experience
We chose basic for our first camping experience to see how we’d cope. We were really pleased with our choice: hot showers, campers left the toilet clean, ice blocks swap and electricity available twice a day, washing up sinks, logs and kindling available to buy. As it’s just a field, we could see where our child was at all time. We enjoyed walking to Milford on sea 15/20 mins. We’d recommend lunch at La Perle, kayaking or SUP with the New Forest paddle board company and a sunset walk on the seafront towards Hurst Castle. We also did a bike ride from Brockenhurst station to explore the New Forest national park and its wildlife.
Wonderful place, perfectly set up for chilled camping - I was away alone with my nieces for the first time and it could not have been better set up for that - simple spotless and friendly
My niece said “best porta loos I’ve ever seen”, superb location lots todo within easy reach-Lymington sea water pool is a must for water friendly kids.
This is a large field in a great location with decent loos, showers, washing up sinks and drinking water. Even when full there is lots of space and it’s mainly families so pretty quiet after 10pm. You can walk to Milford-on-Sea in 15 minutes and the beach in another 10. The village has everything you need (butcher’s, grocer’s, wine bar, cafe, cash point, pub) and the beach is uncrowded (we were there on the hot bank holiday) with amazing views over the Solent.
Recently stayed at Muddycreek with another family - which made 3 Adults and 4 kids and 2 large tents. This place is amazing. The owners are so friendly, the kids loved the animals. Perfect for family’s. Clean toilets, fantastic hot lovely showers. We can’t wait to come back next year 😁
Lovely little pop up campsite. Facilities were good and reasonably clean. The owners were wonderful and super friendly - checking in every evening that we were OK. Super close to Milford on Sea - great food places - and Hurst Castle - def worth going for a morning trip. Perfetc place for families. Not too noisy and everyone was quiet by 10.30.
Great place , could be so much more .
If your looking for relaxed , casual camping that doesn't feel at all crowded and you love to sit round a camp fire with a pack of marshmallows and a beer or 2 then this is the place for you. Lots of space for everyone and you can pitch where you feel comfy . Showers and toilets are basic but clean and plenty of hot water . The staff are around but not at all 'in your face' - if you had an issue then they could be found but otherwise your left in peace . Camp fires in pits are welcome as are free range kids and dogs on leads . Nice stroll down the road to the village which has a couple of well stocked shops and the Smugglers is well worth a visit. Great place to use as a base to visit the area . We loved it and the laid back atmosphere, will go back . Would recommend . Reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that we thought they could do more with it - a small onsite shop with a few basics would be great , maybe some local produce , milk , a few camping spares that sort of thing - just a thought ! Hurst castle is a good visit , we drove to Weymouth but wouldn't bother again as it took about 2 hrs from the campsite . Good shopping in Southampton & Lymington is worth a visit .
What's not to like.....
The ultimate chill out weekend, there's no hassle and everyone is just very friendly. When you arrive it's a calm, find a spot, put up your tent and you're trusted to check in with the owners between 5 -7. Whilst it doesn't sound much - 2 washing up spots, 4 showers and a toilet block each for men and women - there was never a queue at any of the facilities. All very clean and hygienic. Being able to store freezer blocks was an added bonus....life became so chilled, that my day was organised around the freezer block swap....once in the morning and once at night. There's no light pollution so star gazing this week was just awesome. 2 shooting stars within minutes. It's 0.7 miles to the nearest wine bar that serves tapas, there's several nice eateries in town, and it's just over a mile to the beach. I don't know why I'm telling you all of this because it might prevent me being able to get a slot next year....but some places deserve a great reputation. and this is one of them.
A place for happy campers
It is a basic, honest campsite that delivers exactly what it sets out to do; * rudimentary facilities that are clean and functional. * camping for campers * child friendly * Old person friendly! * Perfect hosts
Here Again, what can I say we LOVE this place.
Here Again, what can I say we LOVE this place. Everything you need on site dog friendly have had a lovely relaxing time.
What a great place
We had a fantastic time camping at Muddycreek and our two young boys cant wait to go back. Great location, lovely hot showers and clean toilets with clean wash basins with waterfall taps! Very chilled out relaxed atmosphere and Polly makes sure any over energetic campers keep to the strict 10.30 curfew! Perfect for families.
This is a great campsite with really good facilities (toilets and showers were very posh). Plenty of space to pitch the tent.
Had a fantastic 3 nights at Muddycreek. Facilities are great and it is just a short walk to Milford-on-Sea village with a variety of shops/cafes & beach. Mobile pizza van on a Friday night was a nice touch
Had a lovely 4 nights at muddy creek , very good facilities , toilets, showers and washing facilities, all kept immaculate, owner very welcoming and helpful, will be booking up stay next August again , many thanks to owner and staff
Finally a nice campfire!
Big plain field with the essential utilities, toilet, showers, washing up sink, drinking water - great. Best thing was being able to get a bag of logs for a good price and borrow bricks to construct a little BBQ/fire reflector and just enjoy the elements.
Lovely relaxing stay
Lovely campsite in the New Forest . Our requirements was to by the sea, allow campfires and to have a hotel close by (for my Mum to stay) . Muddycreek fitted our bill perfectly. Lovely Ladies toilet and lovely hot free showers - we have stayed in campsites where permanent facilities were not nearly as nice. Staff were all nice and friendly and liked the little 5pm walk around making sure everything was ok. Also appreciated the ability to freeze ice packs and charge phones when the office was open. This is perhaps our only criticism that it could have had longer opening hours ( but didn’t ruin our stay) . We took the New Forest open top tour from the bus stop almost outside the campsite and had a nice evening out in Milford which had a nice selection of pubs and restaurants. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
We liked the laidback atmosphere, that we could pitch where we liked and have a campfire. Welcoming staff and very tasty pizza's on Friday night. Ladies toilets felt luxurious, according to my 10yr old daughter. Great crabbing at Keyhaven, nice pubs and we would recommend a visit to the Reptile Centre near Lyndhurst.
Relaxing, laid back and perfect natural spot.
Just returned from a couple of nights stay. Altho the weather was horrendous on the 2nd night we still enjoyed our time here. Really relaxed owners who were so friendly and kind. I was hospitalised so had to make last min adjustment to the date we arrived and they were so understanding and accomodating. Thank you! We stayed on a Fri night so got to enjoy the delicious pizzas that were made on site. The toilet and cleaning facilities were great too. The toilets were certainly a step up fro. Portaloos with fancy glass basins and waterfall taps very posh! 😉 My boyfriend was jealous as the men's weren't as fancy bit still ample lol. The showers were spacious and hot so you could easily shower with young kids in with u. Great location for getting about and we loved that we could have the car next to the tent! We will deffo be back. Just a shame only open in aug...as it seems to be the wettest month of the summer these days! Xx
Excellent campsiteand friendly owners
We love this campsite for the space, open fires and it's location. Perfect location for the New Forest, and the showers are hot too
Basic but perfect
It is a vast field with no regimented bays - it rained until 3am but woke to blue skies and warm sun. The pizza van on Friday evening was brilliant and the pizzas were delicious. The facilities are fine - clean and well maintained. They are at one end of the field so a bit of a walk if you are at the other end especially if you are desperate in the middle of the night - wouldn't have wanted young children going on their own - so great to have a portapotty.
Perfect low key camping
Muddy Creek led by the wonderful Polly and her team is everything that we hoped it would be. A huge field with ponies and sheep, great facilities and masses of places of interest nearby. In spite of a severe weather warning we had one of our best camping trips ever and are already keen to return next year. The kids adored the tree swing, the space to play and the open fires. Highly recommended.
very simple field camping
Huge field but they don't let it get full so there's masses of space for everyone. Minimal facilities but that's the point isn't it? Beautiful site, nice and simple. Short cycle/ longer walk to the sea.
Lovely, flat and spacious campsite
Big and flat pitches, hot showers, clean toilets and perfect location, walking distance from Milford on sea and the beach. Owner is very friendly and allows dogs and open fires.
Brilliant - same as the last time, the time before that and the time before that!!
I rank in the older age bracket of visitors to Muddy Creek and arrive by myself on my bicycle with my little tent and stove on board. Every time I have camped here it has been a place that I do not want to leave...extremely friendly team, fantastic hot showers, lots of space, beautiful evening skies, quiet sleeping...unless it rains heavily!! The location is superb with everything from a plush hotel, to convenience stores, tea shops, the beach and local buses a hop skip and a jump away. Not to mention the restaurants in Milford-on-Sea...amazing selection for such a little place. Just one teeny, tiny niggle (sorry Polly!) but due to the short opening hours of the office I found it difficult to keep my stuff (phone) charged. Needs a bit more organisation on my behalf really. When are you taking bookings for August 2020?!? Wishing all the team at Muddy Creek a happy summer...see you next year ;)
Mature couple camping
We liked the scenery around field ponies goats and cows and that we could have a campfire its in a good location too get too lymington and hurst castle lovely pub the smugglers arms in milford on sea did not like the showers or toilets showers not in a nice place and toilets not got enough sinks too clean teeth and husband could not have a shave owner was very friendly
Nice straightforward comfortable stay
This was a nice straightforward campsite - withe decent loos and showers. Nice and quiet as well and not too crowded.
Perfect for all
This was my second visit here. My 10 year old daughter and I met up with my sister this year and stayed a couple of nights. I think its great for the kids. My daughter and her 2 cousins spent most of the time on the tree swing and playing with other children on the site they had made friends with. The showers are lovely and warm and a good size. Never had to queue but did see some queues while there but only with one or two people and no one was there long. Washing up facilities are clean and the water is hot too. The site is near everything. You can cycle down to the local shops and to the beach it's only a mile. Hurst castle is good place to visit. My only issue (which isn't really anything to do with the site) was one or two drivers probably should have gone a bit slower on exiting the site or driving to the facilities, particularly as children are running about all over the place. This is not unique to this site though and its not enough to stop me coming back. Which I hope to do before the end of the month in possible.
A chilled stay
We spent 5 nights at Muddycreek. It has a very relaxed atmosphere with rustic facilities, which we loved compared to sites with too many people and facilities. The showers are clean and hot and loos although in a porta cabin also clean and always restocked. We took advantage of the pizza’s being sold on Friday evening which were delicious and cooked in 2 minutes! For all other meals we strolled to Milford on Sea to sample an array of brilliant pubs/cafes/restaurants. Or stock up at the Co-Op for a BBQ. The owner Polly is very friendly and ensures everyone is happy. She never over books the field so there was always space for football, cricket and kite flying. She supplies fire logs/kindling and bricks for making fires. We loved staying here and will definitely return.
Lovely, laid-back campsite in fab location
Muddycreek was fabulous! Large field, pitch where you like, surrounded by ponies and wild rabbits! The staff were friendly and helpful and available between 8-9am and 5-7pm. Toilets were beyond expectations with lovely decor despite being essentially a porta-cabin. Showers hot and good pressure in an old stable shed. Ice block swapping available from the office during manned hours. Campfires allowed and logs and kindling available to buy again during manned hours. Conveniently located for visiting Hurst Castle. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely do it again!
Relaxing time at great, well-located site
My daughter and I had a simply wonderful weekend at this pop-up site. Despite being a pop-up site the showers are hot, the toilets clean and there is plenty of room for everyone even when the site was full. We can't wait to go back !
Love it here
This is a great campsite. You get loads of room, and it's really laid back. The village and beach is easily walkable, so you don't have to keep getting in the car. I've been a few times already and am booked in to go back already.
Enormous field with tonnes of space and lovely showers
The fields are flat, loads of space between the families, very quiet at night, warm showers and clean loos, short walk to the sea and village, delicious Friday pizza, welcoming owners, cows and horses. Loved it!
Lovely chilled campsite
Loved our 2 night stay at this site. Wonderfully helpful owners, hot showers, camp fires. What's not to like!
Lovely friendly campsite
Just had a lovely weekend at Muddycreek. There's loads of space, the toilets are decent and there are nice hot showers, the pizza on Friday nights is excellent, it's dog-friendly and there are no caravans. It's close to Milton on sea - the beach and pretty little town with good pubs and restaurants are within easy walking distance. We had a great Thai takeaway from the Brittania - I recommend. Brilliant place for kids - and their parents!
We stayed this weekend with our friends - 4 adults and 3 x 7 year olds in total. Great little site, with plenty of space for the children to run around. Toilets regularly cleaned, warm showers and the added bonus of fires (bricks available to borrow - we forgot to bring something to put the fire on) Freshly made pizza was great on Friday night. Will be back next year!
Perfect location and lots of space
We spent the weekend at this campsite which is a short walk from the beach and stunning little village. Will be visiting them again. Very relaxed, lots of space around each tent (giving you privacy). Toilets and showers were great! Loved every minute there!
Wonderful relaxing campsite
3rd year we’ve stayed here. Lovely and spacious, even when full it doesn’t feel cramped. Horses on site are popular for the children to look at and the owners are wonderfully friendly. Will be back next year.
Great camping, location, location !
This is a great campsite, just returned from 3 nights on Muddycreek. Although the bank holiday weather was far from amazing on the Sunday and our gazebo didn't have a happy ending, there was plenty to do to keep us entertained. We arrived on Friday at lunchtime and left on Monday lunchtime. The facilities don't have any frills, but was all we needed, hot showers, clean toilets, the ability to bring our dog and build a camp fire was what the children wanted. The owners provide freeze blocks, sell wood and have pizza on a Friday night, and coffee and chocolate croissants in the mornings. 20 mins walk to the beach yet accessible to the New Forest and no caravans is a plus ... we don't camp regularly but prefer not to stay on a camp site which is a caravan jungle. My daughter loved to go and visit the ponies and there was plenty of space to run around and play games. Stay to the right hand side of the site if you prefer the peace and quiet .... will definitely come back !
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thanks Catherine, glad you enjoyed your stay - sorry about your gazebo!
This is camping the proper way, but with nice toilets and showers. I.e no electricity or marketing ploys, just a field of tents with a field of pony's next to it. The owners seemed lovely but were only there for 1.5 hours in morning and 1.5 hours in evening just in case anyone had questions or wanted to exchange ice packs. It's only a 10 min walk from the village centre, and 15 mins walk from a pebble beach. If you walk 15 mins the other way there is a lovely tea room.
Great short break with kids
My two young kids and myself had a lovely couple of days at muddycreek. Lived the lad back style of the owners, they could not seem to do enough to ensure you have a great stay. Definitely going back.
camping al fresco!
What an excellent campsite!! No frills.......but clean, loads of hot water for the showers, good toilet block and very friendly owners. Easy to find and then just chose a plot (no regulations on number of tents/awnings etc) and settle down to a relaxed few days with friends. Highly recommended and will definitely return next year!
Basic camping at its best
Well situated family friendly campsite. While the provisions are rudimentary, they are kept spotless thanks to the tireless efforts of our hosts. They have managed over many years to remain friendly and helpful. I love it and will be back again.
Basics done well in a lovely location
Muddycreek is a really nice campsite, flat pitches, good clean basic facilities in a lovely part of the world, all at a reasonable price. The owners were friendly and we enjoyed visiting the mares and foals at feeding time. We love having a campfire too. The site is well situated for the coast and the New Forest, we will definitely be back.
Well located, spacious, clean.
Stayed here for 2 nights over the August bank holiday weekend, 2 adults, 2 young children, 5 and 3. Read previous reviews and stayed on the right hand near side of the site, opposite side to the hotel and a short walk to the toilets, office, showers and washing up station. Facilities are basic but well kept and clean. Washing up liquid, bowls and sponges available at the washing up station. Plenty of loo roll and soap in the toilets. Really enjoyed the evening camp fires, wood can be bought on site, kindling £4, logs £5 a bag. Tried the Friday night pizza service given the rain, 4 pizzas and a garlic bread for £32. The site is on the edge of Milton-on-sea, we took a slow walk through the town down to the seafront which took about ~25 mins. Stopped off at the Smuggler's Inn for lunch which was very nice. We are relatively new to camping and only been to a few sites, would recommend this one based on facilities, location and there being plenty of space.
This was exactly what we were looking for. An enormous campsite with the vital facilities! The showers were hot and the toilets flushed - excellent. It was lovely to be able to pitch where we liked and we loved being able to have our own fire. Milford on sea is beautiful and we were delighted to find the walk was not too far to the centre or to the sea. We also walked to the castle which was lovely as it was along the spit but it was quite long.
Lovely spacious site, allowing fires....clean toilets and was a perfect setting
Very quiet during the week
Lovely hot showers, LOADS of room, Dog friendly and free, we added on an extra night as we didn't want to leave. Thoroughly recommend and will book again for next year !
We stayed for 3nights and loved it the children had tons of space, very relaxed, good clean toilets and really cool showers nice and hot and very campy we will be back thank you Polly and family.
Very nice, straight forward place
This is a large, uncluttered site with nice toilet and shower facilities, helpful and unfussy staff, and the whole thing was just super easy, relaxed and straightforward. Well priced firewood amd they will re-freeze your cool blocks. Close to beaches and the forest. One tip on the local establishments: avoid the Gun Inn, where children are barely tolerated and pretty much openly disliked.
Well maintained camp site
On arrival we found the camp site well maintained, the grass short and the ground fairly flat & even, separate mail & female toilet blocks and a separate shower block with 4x large cubicles with hot water. The site itself despite having 30-40 tents was spacious and relatively peaceful. One word of warning is that we stayed on a Saturday evening and the camp site is next to a hotel, which must have had a wedding reception in full flow - which was quite loud up until about 1am, so choose wisely when deciding where to pitch your tent and maybe check with the hotel if they have any functions scheduled during your stay. If you are a night owl and like Wham, Spandau Ballet and UB40, you can dance away free of charge. We would certainly recommend staying here.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thanks for the review and your kind words. With regard to hotel functions, we do try to warn campers of the possible hotel noise at weekends. We send out a eMail a few days before arrival advising that the hotel may have events on at the weekend and to avoid pitching near it if this would be an issue and have also roped off the area nearest to the hotel.
We had a lovely night’s stay at Muddy Creek in mid August. Lovely relaxed feel. Plenty of space. Camp fires. Logs for sale. Dogs free. No caravans or big RVs. What’s not to love? Ideally located close to village shops and amenities and a short walk to the beach. Shame the men’s loos were not as good as the ladies! Did not try the showers or washing up facilities. Friendly owners.
Great location and lovely hosts.
Excellent location, just a short walk from Milford. the walk is safe being on pavement next to the road. There is plenty of room on the site, they do not seem to want to just cram people in. The cost is commensurate with camping in August. The ability to have an open camp fire is a must, and the fact that the site is dog friendly is a massive bonus. The hosts are lovely and keep you informed of anything that you need to know. The toilets and showers are clean and function perfectly. The pizza on a Friday night, which is cheap and tasty, is a nice touch, as is the coffee and croissants in the morning.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Friendly and peaceful
This campsite is so fantastic I almost don't want to tell anyone about it...keep it a secret!! I arrived on my pushbike last week and enjoyed my stay so much I altered my tour plans to be able to return earlier this week. The reviews are all a bit repetitive - friendly, peaceful, fantastic showers, spacious, campfires permitted, etc but they are all entirely accurate. It is so refreshing to find a campsite like this where everone is under canvas and therefore seem to have an inbuilt sense of respect for each others space and peace. Lovely place for little ones to run around in a safe space. Although it didn't affect me during my stays I did wonder if the toilet facilities would be adequate during busy weekends but that won't stop me from returning. See you next year Muddycreek!
Quiet simplicity and space.
Our second return to this site. Polly is friendly down to earth and helpful, as are all the staff. The site offers simple and very adequate amenities and seems to attract families that respect each others space and a peaceful approach to the camping experience, no late night music or excessive noise and not packed in on top of each other. We had a thoroughly relaxing time sitting around the warm fire in the evening and checking out the stars, which is a big plus in our books. A great base for various activities around the area. We will book again without hesitation.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thank you Steve, hope to see you next year
Facilities, space and chilled atmosphere
Great campsite. Lovely clean toilets, warm showers and good washing up facilities. Lots of room - friendly atmosphere. Great location for New Forest (tour bus passes outside) and coastal exploring. Five minutes walk from bus stop to Bournemouth/Lymington. Great communication from the campsite beforehand and whilst there. Good value.
Fun, simple camping.
Last week we had our second stay at Muddy Creek and my son loved it. It is a quiet location with the place becoming wonderfully silent around the time one needs to get children asleep. My son was most taken with showering in an old stable ( very good showers too!) and readers will be glad to know that the horse is not present! After a night of rain the site dried quickly which was a Good Thing. It is nice that there is a plentiful supply of logs to purchase as well as bricks and water buckets....we had a fire and marshmallows which made the whole trip for my son. Staff are friendly and helpful and we will go again next year.
I've been here two years running now, and hopefully I'll go back next year. The site is relaxed, the owners are lovely, you can pitch where you want. The showers are hot, there's a pub, butchers, grocers, and general store 10 minutes walk away, the beach is another 5 minutes. What's not to like? :)
Relaxed, friendly owners. We emailed with a few questions beforehand and they replied quickly. Freezer block swap over included, kindling and firewood available to purchase during office hours. Toilets were clean and plenty for size of site. Hot showers - occasionally had to queue but not for long. While we were there a foal was born in the next field. Seeing it growing up over its first few days was amazing and really unique. Milford and the surrounding area is lovely. The walk to Hurst Castle is very enjoyable. There’s a good fish and chip shop and a few pubs which are walking distance from the campsite. My only advice would be to pitch your tent on the opposite side of the field to the South Lawn hotel if you prefer sleeping in the dark because they have very bright floodlights on all night. Perfect campsite and I would recommend to anyone.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thank you for your kind words Megan, glad you enjoyed your stay
Lovely easy site. No heavy rules just pitch and enjoy your stay. Showers really plentiful and hot. Our second stay and we will return next year for another peaceful week under the trees. Great butchers in village, sausages are the best.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
The Great Outdoors - getting amongst it
Being able to light a fire was The Best. We sat by it and surveyed the stars, watched the bats and listened to owls hooting in the trees right above us. Very friendly and welcoming team, carried our wood to our pitch at the other end of the site for us! And delivered my sneakers to me personally when I'd left them in the shower. Thanks guys! Swam in the sea nearby, cycled to Keyhaven and got the ferry to Hurst Castle, and caught about a hundred crabs off the quay there. Walked across the saltmarsh at sunset. Dream hol. Coming back again next year deffo.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Glad you enjoyed yourself
Ideal location. Nice hot showers. No frills campsite. Set in a large field. Easy access to all parts of the new forest plus Lymington and Bournemouth. Will book again.
Great campsite. Basic but everything you need
Great campsite. Turn up and pitch where you want. When the office is open pop in and say hello and that's it. Great and so friendly staff and owners. We decided to stay another night just because Friday nights are pizza nights. Great pizzas and cooked right in front of you. We want up Saturday morning to find that the owners are serving coffee and freshly baked croissants. Amazing, but the icing on the cake was where we pitched our tent, in our back garden was to newly born ponies and our children loved them. Every morning waking and going to see them and at 6pm the owners came to feed them, another great experience. Our whole stay our children were trying to find the best names for them. We will stay next year Thank you
The space we had was amazing, not all on top of each other.
Some of us were fairly new to camping so this was a great experience. Turn up and pitch up wherever you feel like it. Price per person rather than number of tents and small camp fires allowed. Clean toilets, hot showers and close to so many interesting places. We had a ball and hope to visit again.
Had a lovely stay at Muddycreek Farm with our two young boys, had a lovely time, perfectly situated to explore the surrounding area, the beach at Milford on Sea was great and we highly recommend the butchers in the village and the chip shop. The campsite had lovely hot showers and a freeze block exchange, very useful during the hot weather, we will definitely be visiting again, thank you.
Beautiful area and great campsite
We had a lovely weekend at MuddyCreek - the campsite itself was well equipped with nice toilets, washing up sinks and showers, plus friendly staff who provided cold ice packs and a BBQ to borrow, as well as selling us firewood and kindling. Lots of open space for the kids to run around and close to the lovely beaches of Avon and Milford on Sea! We had a lovely lunch at 'the Beach House'.
Very chilled lovely campsite
I loved this place! Really friendly but non intrusive staff, very chilled vibe, great that you can have a campfire. Will definitely return here.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thank you Helen. Glad you enjoyed your stay
Nice relaxed campsite
This campsite is great. This was my third visit - it's always chilled and staff are helpful. Other campers always seem friendly, plenty of kids but not a noisy site. Even at it's busiest, there's pleanty of space in the field. Showers are good and the ladies toilets loog nice, but the men's facilities could deo with an upgrade.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thank you for your comments. We will look into improving the men's loos
We stayed as a large group of friends and family for a week at the beginning of August. First night I heard the horse behind our tent give birth woke up to the sweetest little lanky legged horse! So cute. The space is great. No camping on top of each other or fixed pitches which is brilliant. The facilities are always clean and well stocked with toilet rolls. My kids loved the showers and had more in the week we stayed than I would have had to force them to at home! Milford on Sea is a short walk away to the pub or curry house for dinner. Also the beach is just down the road too lovely ice cream shop. Would definitely recommend this site. Totally love the idea of pop up camping and will be coming back!
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thanks Claire. Glad you enjoyed it. We are thinking of naming that foal Muddycreek Cheeky Charlie!
simple basic camping
Field a bit rough, hoof marks I guess from when wet, but no slope so easy to find tent rotation.! Nice to have a camp fires in barbeque bucket. Toilets and showers kept clean. Public footpath across road. Plenty hot water, staff friendly. Relaxed site.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thanks for the review. Yes the ground is a little rough this year sadly as the lack of rain meant the ground was too hard to roll hopefully next year will be back to normal
My idea of great camping
Uncrowded field, friendly neighbours. The way camping used to be, only better: inexpensive pitches with hot showers and clean loos. Sensible approach to fire risk in the dry weather and useful freezers for cooling ice blocks. Would question what happens to rubbish as no recycling bins - does it really get sorted later? Also agree with other reviewer, somebody to enforce the quiet policy around 22:30 would be a plus - it only takes one unsociable tent to disturb everyone else.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thanks for the review. I am sorry if you were disturbed by a noisy neighbor, we do patrol the campsite after 10.30 and ask everyone to keep the noise down but on this occasion we obviously didn't hear the people in question so I apologise for that. With regard to the recycling, we have been told that the skip is sorted through and I've not been given a reason to doubt this but maybe we should also have a separate recycling bin? Thank you for your feedback.
Stayed for a couple of nights. Owners really helpful and welcoming. Nice clean facilities. Would definitely recommend and will be returning next year
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thank you for your feedback, we looking forward to welcoming you back next year!
Lovely friendly campsite with good basic facilities
Great value for August, lots of space and good basic facilities.
Brilliant campsite 👍🏻
We stayed the first weekend of August and it was brilliant, hot showers , nice loos and loads of space. The owners are so lovely and accommodating. We will be back next year x
An amazing find for the month of August
What a fantastic idea....pop up camp site for August. We loved it, although we could only spend 1 night, luckily it was a Friday night so the pizza van was there. Spacious, flat, friendly, hot showers, flushing loos and incredible croissants for breakfast too. We will be back with family members too. A BIG THANK YOU.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thank you for your kind words
Brilliant camping trip
We stayed for 3 nights over a very hot weekend in August. The ground was bone dry, but the field is flat and we managed to get the pegs in the ground! We were allowed a fire (off the ground - we bought our own portable bbq) and there were lots of precautionary water filled bins around the field 'just in case'. The owners were lovely, the showers hot, the toilets were very good too. We bought firewood and kindling there and swapped our ice blocks over in the owners freezer. They had a pizza van on the Friday night and a coffee/croisaant van on weekend mornings too. Milford on Sea is an easy walk and you can get everything there. Lymington is a short drive. We actually walked from the site to Hurst castle and back as a day out (6.5 mile round trip) stopping at the Smugglers for lunch on the way home. I've already told 2 friends to come here. We would definitely come again.
Response from Muddycreek Farm
Thanks Kelly. Glad you enjoyed your stay
Perfect spot and lovely owners
I stayed for 2 nights the first weekend of August solo and it was a perfect stay. The place is easy to reach, calm and spacious and super tidy: there is plenty of space to pitch up and everyone is very considerate. The showers where greatly original and spacious, the restroom facilities were clean and tidy, I did not need to use other facilities myself but everything looked easy to use. The owner were very welcoming and also took the time to pop over on Saturday night to check if everything was ok, asked if I had everything I needed and have a friendly chat. Note also Friday night they had options for Pizza and the Saturday evening was hotdog, cash only, which is not only of great convenience and great idea but they also have some sets of table and chairs nearby where you can have a chat with other campers over "diner". As a solo hiking traveller, this is a great added bonus, was able to get some additional input on where to go the following day which I was really appreciative off.
Lovely location and friendly people
A very quiet, family campsite. A lovely field with solid, if basic, facilities. Extremely friendly, helpful people running the site and making coffee and croissants in the morning. My only gripe is that we all got bitten to death by mosquitoes, despite the smoke from BBQs and a fire. If that’s the norm it would have been good to have a bit of warning to slap on the repellent!
A basic camping field, with great showers/toilets
We stayed here for one night on a hiking trip, during terrible storms! The camping field is huge, so we had lots of space, the shower block was great, hot water and clean, same goes for the toilets. There's a good washing up area and access to fresh water. For the price I'd say it was great.
Lovely simple site with very friendly welcoming owners.
The Friday night pizzas were great and the coffee and croissants in the morning a welcome touch. Toilets are also v upmarket ;)
Just what I was looking for
Camping in the New Forest in peak season is outrageously over priced. This place had good facilities, nice hot showers, clean. There is plenty of space. The owners were really helpful and friendly and it's just a short walk to Millford. Fires are allowed, all at a reasonable price.
I stayed for a week with my 2 grown up sons. We enjoyed it. Easy going owners, good showers and clean toilets. Lots of room so campers were far away from each other so very private. A chance to relax in peaceful surroundings but lots to do locally if you wanted. I`ll go there again, no doubt!
Ruined by party.
Good campsite . Sufficient facilities. Ruined by a large party of adults and kids singing and slamming car doors way past the 10.30 quiet policy. Nobody around to enforce the laws so they easily get broken. Ruined for many occupants around us too. Fortunately it was our last night of 4 otherwise we would have complained. Overall the other 3 nights and days were fine.
First time lucky
I loved Muddycreek. It was my first experience of camping and it was friendly, relaxed, near to great beaches on a fantastic coastline, and the Friday night pizzas were delicious. If you want a quiet campsite with lots of space, nice showers, and a high standard of care (and cleanliness), this is a perfect place.
PERFECT CAMPING LOCATION - HEAVEN
Muddy creek has got to be one of the best campsites I've been to. I'm a Seasoned camper and have visited muddycreek for the past five years because it's such a relaxed set up. The field is large enough that you don't feel cramped at all and they allow camp fires which is a bonus! It's family friendly and thankfully so quiet in the evenings ready for a peaceful sleep. Lovely loos and fantastic showers! It's a short walk into the main village of Milford on sea where there's great little village shops and very nice selection of eateries. Perfectly close to the beach! And a short ten minute drive to either Lymington town or the forest. Booking was no stress and the owners were really accommodating. Definitely recommend as a go to location! See you again next year!
