Folds Farm Camping at Chapelfield
Folds Farm, Godshill Wood, Fordingbridge, Hampshire SP6 2LP
Folds Farm Camping At Chapel Field sits down a small country lane and, not surprisingly, opposite what was the Methodist chapel. The field is undulating just like the tranquil grounds of Folds Farm, an unquestionably peaceful patch in the New Forest landscape. “We’re a family campsite”, they proudly proclaim, and the smiling kids who pedal through the entrance echo the sentiment. The 28-day site is a patchwork of family tents, spread across generous grassy pitches that allow room in the rest of the enclosed field for children to kick a ball around and make friends. That’s not to say the place reverberates with the sound of crying toddlers and beleaguered parents. Far from it. The atmosphere is relaxed and calm, with a ‘quiet policy’ in the late evenings and a mix of holidaying couples alongside the family groups.
Those at one with Fold Farm’s equestrian business (they breed rare Cleveland Bay horses) can bring along their own horse to graze in the neighbouring paddock, before joining the wildlife with a trot along the New Forest bridleways. The national park is a paradise for such non-motorised transportation and anyone with a horse, bike or just a pair of walking shoes will end up forgetting about the car altogether. It’s certainly no bad thing. The real charm of Folds Farm Camping At Chapel Field is the way the relaxing vibe of the site suits the leisurely life you’re able to lead here. It’s a five-minute walk to the pub, six-minute walk to the riverside, and seven-minute walk to Sandy Balls Holiday Park. There you can use the swimming pool and playgrounds or rent bikes for the eight-minute ride to Fordingbridge. So despite the confusing name its all as easy as one, two, three and probably a ten out of ten by the time you’ve settled in.

Perfect for families
We've just returned from a wonderful few days at Folds Farm. It's a fantastic location in the heart of the New Forest with its great cycling and walking countryside. The campsite is a large undulating field and you are given the freedom to pitch your tent where you want (there are no lines marking your boundary!) and there is so much space for the children to play in freely. The facilities are kept really clean and the little pop-up shop is kept perfectly stocked - I recommend the locally produced sausages and bacon. Victoria and Gareth are the perfect hosts and make sure that everyone has a 5* camping experience. By night we enjoyed a camp fire, and toasted marshmallows (also available from the shop in sack size!) and using the fire pits and logs provided by Victoria and Gareth. Do walk down through the farm towards the river to say hello to Remy the foal - she was a particular hit with the children. We'll definitely be back again
A short but enjoyable time!
Wow! When our week of travelling Cornwall & Devon in our motorhome was drawing to an end we decided to book one night at Folds Farm and we are so glad we did. What an enjoyable personal experience! Vicky kindly took our booking the day prior to our arrival and asked which region/direction we were approaching from and then gave us clear direction of where to head. A pleasurable, scenic drive through some of the New Forest later we arrived at our destination with our two teenage children and dog and were greeted by both camp owners Gareth and Vicky whom detailed the amenities which includes shower and washroom block, multiple loos positioned around the grounds and drinking water points. There is also a little tuck shop and use of fire pits for that ultimate night time camp experience! As mentioned in previous comments, the site is spacious and its park where you feel best. What a relaxed approach! Once set up it wasn't long before the camp owner Vicky asked us if we wanted her to pick up any goods from the supermarket. Now that's service! Pub within walking distance and served good pub grub and wine. Showers in the morning of our departure were very clean and hot. Just a shame our holiday came to end as next time this will be our starting point for more than one night!!
Camping as it was meant to be....
We decided to go camping really last minute and so gave Folds Farm a call after looking at the CC website. We are so glad we did, what a great time we had. The facilities were great, so clean, and the field is the perfect host for back to basics relaxed camping. We pitched wherever we liked and there was plenty of space, although it was busy. We were able to arrive at any point on our first day and when we had to leave (reluctantly) on the last day we could depart at our leisure, which meant we could really string our 4 days out. Victoria couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful, and the added bonus of a fire pit delivered to your tent meant we enjoyed wonderfully long evenings toasting marshmallows and sharing stories under the stars. This campsite has a few secrets that are great to discover whilst you are there and add to the experience.
We will definitely return as its so close to home. I would recommend a visit, and bring friends as its ideal for family get together and those annual dates with mates!
Beautful, peaceful campsite
My family and I had an amazing time at this campsite. It is very peaceful and quiet with plenty of space to pitch up where you like. The loos and showers were really clean and the owners friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back to this site if we were in the area again.
We stayed here for our first night on Monday and booked straight back in for the weekend! The site is spacious (no officious pre lined pitches), fires in pits are permitted but we opted for the old school camp fire with logs around the edges it was perfect! The site is in an amazing location with new forest donkey's at the gate of the field, the pub is a 2 minute walk and the showers were hot and clean. Victoria the owner was highly knowledgeable on local things to do and we even joined her for a BBQ! Lovely tranquil site with superb walking straight in the forest.
