Eskdale Campsite
UK England North West England Cumbria
Eskdale Campsite, Boot, Holmrook, Cumbria, CA19 1TH

The Lake District is arguably the most beautiful corner of England. With a combination of picture-perfect villages, sensational lakes and glorious green dales, this remarkable region is surely the perfect retreat for any camper. Described by romantic poet William Wordsworth as “The loveliest spot that man hath found” it’s hard to disagree, especially on a clear Cumbrian day.
Tucked away down a narrow country lane, Eskdale can be found in one of the Lake's more secluded pockets. Run by the ever-friendly Sara and Martyn, the eight acres of flat, well maintained grassland are backed by tall trees with a tranquil stream snaking past.
Upon arrival, you instantly realise Eskdale's facilities have been created with hassle-free camping in mind. Pitch sizes are generous, facilities well-maintained, and the fully-stocked shop is a life saver when you forget your toothbrush!
If you wish to get reacquainted with Mother Nature, then Eskdale’s location couldn’t be better. The site is ideally placed for reaching the impressive Wasdale fells or climbing England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. Also right on your doorstep is one of the most beautiful train journeys in England, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. This historic, narrow gauge railway carries passengers along seven miles of spectacular scenery on an unforgettable 40-minute ride.
Eskdale has a cosy, friendly atmosphere and is a genuinely lovely place to camp, in a region with no shortage of great pitchup spots.

Wonderful campsite in stunning location
Lovely campsite with great facilities - including useful drying room, hot and powerful showers and a thoughtfully stocked shop which even included toast and coffee if feeling lazy with the camping stove! The surrounding area is beautiful for walking or wild-swimming in the Esk just upstream from the church! Food at the nearby Boot inn was perfect too. Will definitely be back!
Great site in a less crowded part of the Lakes
Despite the rather patchy weather we all had a brilliant time at Eskdale. It's brilliantly run, with a well stocked shop and immaculate facilities. Beautiful setting, three pubs within walking distance, dog friendly, couldn't ask for more.
Nice family site, directly at the lake with easy access to wray castle
Good facilities, plenty of space to pitch our tent. We particularly liked the gorgeous walk from campsite to wray castle.
Fantastic site for adventure family camping in gorgeous nature
Modern, very well maintained facilities, plenty of space for tents. Our kids loved the two playgrounds, especially the trampoline and made quickly friends with other kids. Owners were very nice and gave us useful advice. Beautiful nature with rich opportunities for hikes and outdoor adventures. We'll come again!
Gorgeous family break
We had a great time at Eskdale staying in a pod The campsite was very well kept with great facilities. Everything was super clean and fresh smelling and the owners could not do enough for us. The local pubs were perfect and we will be going back to this site in the summer for a longer stay. Highly recommended!
