A family-friendly campsite on a working East Yorkshire Farm just outside the market town of Beverley

History buffs will feel at home on East Yorkshire’s Butt Farm. Across the fields, the cobbled market town of Beverley marks itself out with the towers of Beverley Minister – a grand gothic masterpiece that took almost 200 years to build. While, in a neighbouring field, a World War II anti-aircraft gun site is already under restoration by Historic England. It’s an intriguing little landmark to discover on your tent-step. Indeed, the farm itself has an air of history about it – centuries-old barns, complete with worn red bricks and ancient wooden shutters, show there is nothing young about this lush agricultural holding.

What is new at Butt Farm, however, is the campsite. The brainchild of young tenants Oly and Jen, who took over the farm in 2014, the site opened for the first time only a couple of years later and boasts the newest of facilities as a result. The showers, washrooms and dishwashing area are modern, clean and warm, while segments of subtle glass tiling on the roof allow in natural light whilst avoiding spoiling the barn aesthetics. From outside the barn keeps its history, yet inside there’s a modern function.

Beyond the barn, there’s a dog shower, chemical disposal point, recycling in a converted grain silo, plus electricity and water on the hard standing pitches, while tent campers can tuck themselves around the meadow perimeter. The field is around two and a half acres in size, so space is never an issue. And, when you do decide to venture further afield, a blackboard and pinned-up maps in the information area will help you decide on where to go.

A footpath and cycleway are well marked to lead you directly into Beverley and the surrounding areas. The route also takes in some of Butt Farm’s 180 acres, home to cows and sheep – visit early in the camping season and there’s plenty of their youngsters about too. Head in the opposite direction, meanwhile and you’ll eventually come to Skidby Mill, Yorkshire’s last working windmill and a noted landmark on the Wolds skyline. The original warehouses surrounding the mill still stand and are used as a museum of rural life, with activities for children and an excellent café in the courtyard. It’s all just another historic feather in Butt Farm’s camping cap.

Modern, heated ablutions block in a converted farm barn with separate ladies and gents toilets, showers, electric shaver sockets and a separate utilities room with dishwashing facilities. Fire pits (£10 per night, including logs, kindling and marshmallows) and BBQs (£5 per night including charcoal) are available to hire. There is also a dog shower, secure bike storage, a chemical disposal point, recycling facilities and an information board. The WWII anti-aircraft gun site in the neighbouring field is currently being restored by Historic England and access is available upon request to all campers who wish to look around.

Suitable For

Everyone! Campers, glampers, tents, campervans, motorhomes, caravans, couples, families, groups, cyclists, dogs (on a lead)...

The campsite is on the outskirts of Beverley, home to old cobbled streets and grand Beverley Minster (01482 868540), one of Europe's finest gothic minsters. It can be seen from a great distance as you approach across the fields – there is an excellent 30-minute walking route into the centre of town. In the opposite direction you can walk or drive to Folly Fishing Lakes (07860 255981) to try your hand at angling or simply sit and watch from the café. Just beyond, Skidby Windmill (01482 848405) is well worth a visit. A working, four-sailed tower windmill and the last working mill in Yorkshire, it offers visitors short tours and boasts magnificent views over the Wolds. Further afield, 2017's UK Capital of Culture, Hull, is 20 minutes away by car and it's under an hour to York. Visit in June for the excellent Beverley Folk Festival (01377 217569). Other highlights include Beverley Racecourse (01482 867488) and the David Hockney Trail.

Food & Drink

The Barrel (075500 78833) is the closest pub, with The Ferguson Fawsitt Arms (01482 882665) and The Dog & Duck (01482 801662) offering great bar meals – all in Walkington. The Tiger Inn (01482 869040) and The Woolpack Inn (01482 867095) are both good, while The Kings Head (01482 868103) and the historic Nellie's White Horse (01482 861973) are also well worth a visit. For something up market, try the Michelin-starred Pipe & Glass (01430 810246) at North Dalton, while for a light bite there's Folley Lakes Café (07860 255981) in Risby or cycling stop-off Café Velo (01482 679270) in Beverley. There's a supermarket (with a petrol station) less than a mile down the road.

Friendly, central location, very well organised (especially for Covid)

Lovely, family farm campsite with great facilities, especially good setup for Covid19! Fresh eggs were delicious and all 6 were double yolkers! :-) Great location to see the East Riding of Yorkshire. Will definitely book again when we are allowed! 4 days wasn’t really enough to explore the region.

Short break

We found this site on-line when looking for somewhere not too far from home for a short break. We were really pleased with the efficiency and cleanliness of the site. Recycling facility a real plus. Well organised, friendly site, close to amenities set in beautiful countryside. Will return soon. Xx

Amazing first camping experience

We have had the best weekend! For a first time camper we loved staying here. It was clean and the owners were very helpful! Facilities were great and so close to walkington and Beverly. We wanted to use one of their fire pits but sadly didn’t get the chance due to the rainy weather! Nevertheless we will be returning!

Really well organised, friendly hosts, Covid secure, open spaces, super clean, cool camping

Our stay started with a friendly efficient morning phone call from Jen, who told us our pitch number and the info we needed, so we could set up easily. Facilities were clean and well kept and an outside washing up area is fabulous. Felt reassured and safe in terms of Covid. Lots of info about the local area and a fish and chip shop recommendation - amazing. Lovely muddy morning walks to see the goats, chickens, calves and tractors - our toddler loved it. Would defo stay again 😊

Great location for exploring East Yorkshire...

Great location for exploring East Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire. Beverley is a delight and the seaside nearby. Loved the goats, cows and chickens! Wide open skies and skeins of geese! Facilities were lovely, warm and well organised (Covid). I’ll be back! Thanks Oly and Jen!

What a fantastic site Very peaceful but lovely to be so close to all the cows Great facilities and a great position for cycling into Beverly We will be back again

Brilliantly stay, site lovely and clean and very rural.

Lovely location, fields all round with cow's. Site is very well kept with lovely clean toilets, although we did not use them. A lovely easy walk into Beverly, with a pub on way which was very Covid safe for a drink. Beverly itself a lovely market town and the Minster was free entry, well worth a visit. Jen came to see us on first evening, with lots of useful information. Even got me the Cool Camping guide and left it on motorhome step for us to find on day of departure. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Lovely relaxing break

A lovely quiet farm site whilst still being close to facilities such as shops, petrol stations etc. We stayed on a hard standing pitch which was big enough for our car & caravan. The loos & showers were clean with lots of hot water & the whole site was very COVID secure. We walked into Walkington across fields which was Approx 1.5 hrs, and the east coast resort of Hornsea is within easy driving distance. Our dog was fascinated by the free range chickens and the goats! We will be back in 2021, thanks for the great stay xx

Great Short Stay

Very well run and tidy site. We stopped over for 2 nights and used the site as a base to cycle the local area and walk into Beverley for the local amenities. Highly recommended....we will be back.

Good dog walks away from Beverley but close to Beverley

Another visit!

Our third visit to this super site - we have never been disappointed at Butt Farm. Oly and Jen run the site, and the farm(!), well. We will be booking to return next Summer. The organisation in respect of Covid requirements worked well.

What a fabulous glamping weekend

We had a really comfortable and relaxing stay in the the 'Three Little Pigs' Straw Bale Lodge. Absolutely everything you would need for a comfortable stay is provided, the little kitchenette is really well equipped and everything was spotlessly clean. There were a a few other campers pitched up on the site, but everything was calm and peaceful and the shared facilities were clean and well organised (the pod has its own bathroom with shower but we went to have nosey around the site). We loved feeding the goats in the morning, and exploring he local area. Food at the Tiger Inn, as recommended, was really great, and we had a ride over to Fraisthorpe beach (lovely!) as the weather was so good. Would 100% recommend this lovely site and we will definitely be back as campers and glampers - absolutely fabulous!

Lovely little site!

Everything we love about a site: tastefully rustic; clean; well kept; generously spaced pitches; nice warm showers; great info board; recycling facility; lovely little town to explore within walking distance. COVID contingencies really well thought out.

Fantastic family campsite

Quiet, clean and great facilities, chickens wandering around campsite - a lovely atmosphere and Olly and Jen very helpful and friendly

Perfect 1 night stop

Stopped off heading back north to Scotland. Great location which was convenient yet quiet. Beverley a lovely place to visit and explore. Facilities at Butt Farm were very good and Covid restrictions dealt in a pragmatic way. Owner very friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. Would be a great place to take kids - goats, cows, chickens etc!

Chill out

Lovely site and friendly owners. All facilities are very clean and tidy. Just wish we’d had better weather but hope to return in the near future.ps the fresh eggs are a bonus 🐓🐓

Great site, great location, great service

This site is fantastic. Toilets always clean and feels really safe the way they are organising with COVID restrictions. Good dog walk and we loved Billy and Gruff (the goats). Oly and Jen are really friendly, helpful and accommodating. We loved walking round Beverly and it’s close enough to the coast too for a day at the beach. I think we’ll end up coming back here regularly.

Quite, well organised, clean and very convenient for buses, cycling and walking in the local area.

Friendly, relaxed stay on this lovely farm. Good modern facilities easy to get water and dispose of waste. Short walk to supermarket or bus route or a longer walk into Beverly. Excellent cycle ways. Very helpful owners. Very nice place to stay

Loved it!

We stayed here August 2020 and had fantastic weather so that was brilliant but the campsite itself is great too! I stayed with my 2 and a half year old and my 6 month old baby and loved the fact that there were goats and cows so close to entertain my toddler. The toilets were fantastic and all the washing amenities ran lovely hot water quickly so I could bath my baby. I would recommend and will definitely be returning!!

Amazing stay

First time visit WILL return, the camp site is well maintained, the distance measures in place are excellent. Hosts Oly Jen and Pam are amazing, font of local knowledge, nothing is too much trouble, they even juggled the booking so we could stay an extra nite. local bus just a walk from the camp site, wonderful walks, bike rides, Supermarket, B&M close by. Hull 10 mile Brid about 30 mile. just to let you know, The reason they say check in time 13.00 its a one track road so it gives the leavers time to leave b4 the arrivals arrive, Simple. Just one criticism, the hedges need a trim on the way in so you can see if anyone is coming or going. Thank you so much we enjoyed our stay with you. x

We love Butt farm, this was our second visit this year, and hopefully we’ll get another one in as well...lovely clean site, nice walk into Beverley, 10 minute walk to supermarket. Jen and Olly are great hosts and we always feel very welcome. We had a hard standing pitch this time as we’ve swapped the tent for a caravan and it was fab. The site cat is such a cool dude and the goats are hilarious 😂. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic l

Another fantastic weekend at Butt Farm. Myself and my partner try to stay here at least once a year. It’s such a charming little site. Nothing is too much for the owners or staff. Toilets and showers are impeccable. Waking up to the view of cows and bulls is amazing. Thanks Jen and Oly. Can’t wait to stay again x

Beautiful place

Myself and partner and our 4 kids went to Butt farm for our first while family camping trip. 2 nights and it was perfect for us. The land is so well kept...I’ve stayed at several sites with just my 2 kids and the Butt form pitches were better than any other! The setting is beautiful, the farm is well kept where the goats are near the toilets- so nice to see each day for the children. The toilets/showers are well equipped, especially under the current Covid guidelines and clean. Lovely touches such as eggs available with an honesty box for payment, fridges for use and the washing up area was so clean and a nice roomy area. Loved it and we aim to go back soon.

Fantastic site!

We stayed for 4 nights at Butt Farm as as family of 4 with our 2 not-so-young children. From the minute we drove down the lane and onto the camping site we knew we were in for a real treat! During our 10+ years of caravanning, this has to be the epitome of a 'real hidden gem' of a campsite! We were due to stay here over Easter 2020, which was obviously cancelled due to Covid and were thrilled when we were able to be 'set free' again and book up. The measures put in place for social distancing, hygiene and safety measures exceeded our expectations and we were pleasantly surprised that fellow campers also adhered to the 'new norm'. The facilities were all open as per usual, however, families were allocated a toilet block to use as a group. There was plenty of anti bac spray and hand sanitiser to use both before and after use and we saw the cleaner tending to the facilities throughout the day too. Despite leaving our native city where we have all been submerged in a world dominated by Coronavirus, we felt like we'd temporarily stepped into another dimension: it was the break and (pardon the pun) breath of fresh air we as a family were so desperately in need of! Our children really enjoyed visiting and feeding the animals - especially the cows! We'd highly recommend staying here to ANYONE! We LOVED the fact that there was no park/play area, entertainment, clubhouse etc - less is certainly more and we felt really liberated and free in the beautiful and serene countryside. Thank you and well done to Oly & Jen - you have something really very beautiful! We hope to return again soon.

Friendly, welcoming, relaxed, well organised, excellent facilities

Owners were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Facilities are excellent with lots of care taken to make covid secure. Small and relaxing site. Great for children. Easy access to Beverley by bike.

A lovely friendly site. Great for exploring the local area on foot and by cycle.

Spacious plots, consideration of covid requirement by all visitors on site at the time we were there. Excellent facilities, warm welcome and very relaxing. Hoping we can return .

Lovely family friendly campsite

We returned from our 4 night stay yesterday and a great time was had by all. We booked a ehu tent pitch which had plenty of room for our tent and car. The facilities were kept clean and well stocked with sanitiser and tissue, and the addition of the portaloo came in handy if other toilets were occupied. Our children had a fabulous time looking at all the animals and playing with the other children on site and were sad to leave. The campsite has various supermarkets nearby (Morrison’s within walking distance) and we enjoyed a trip to the coast, which took around 30 minutes in the car. After a few wet and windy days we looked forward to hiring a fire pit for our last night, but unfortunately the logs wouldn’t catch light after much effort (possibly damp?) and looking around the site, the other campers who had hired a fire pit looked like they had the same problem. We had a nice time despite the weather and would recommend it to those looking for a relaxing few days away.

Great little campsite ideal for families

Had a lovely couple of nights stay. Owners were very welcoming and on hand with local advice. Lots of covid measures had been put in place so our stay felt very safe. The children loved the goats and the spread out pitches meant there was plenty of safe space for them to play. We will definitely be returning soon.

Excellent family stay

We felt at ease as soon as we arrived with clear instructions on the set up re Covid on the use of facilities. The set up for showers and toilets are excellent is the social distancing on pitches. It is a family oriented site with goats, cows, chickens and a cat all around and its quiet by 10.30 so we got plenty of sleep. During our stay we enjoyed the East Yorkshire coastline with many beaches within 40mins and some local walks. Loved our few days and my son wants to go back.

Small & well managed site but with large level pitches so ideal

Really enjoyed our overnight in our campervan as plenty of room with nice facilities & water supply to the pitch. Pleasant stroll into beverley& a lovely market town with Minster & castle. Will be back :)

Fabulous first trip in Eddie...

Eddie (our Renault Campervan) has been sitting patiently on the drive since February; so we were SO HAPPY to finally get away for the first time, and what a fabulous place Butt Farm is... Our 2 year old Iris wandered freely and always in safety, we loved being surrounded by the animals, saw both the Barn and Little Owls, and the amazing low-flying acrobatic Swallows! Cycling the area was great (albeit a bit hilly for us Norfolk lowlanders!), and Beverley a great town to visit; we'll definitely be back!

We just had a lovely few nights away at Butt Farm. Such a friendly family run place. So relaxed and quiet. They really have social distancing sorted with widely spaced pitches and a one pitch at a time rule in the facilities. This seemed to work really well and we never needed to queue despite the site being busy. The addition of fire pits to hire is a great touch too. Oly and his lovely Mum were so helpful when our car had a flat battery on the morning we were due to leave and we needed jump starting. Thanks so much, we will definitely be recommending you in the future.

My first camping in a while and the first since Covid and they did a great job doing everything to keep us safe. My pitch was large, flat, and the the site was quiet. Given the chance, I'd have stayed another night. But I did take the chance to visit Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Head.

Beautiful site

Stayed two nights at Butts Farm, 18th and 19th July. Site well kept, facilities clean and well organised for Covid-19 restrictions. The little goats and hens roaming around was lovely to see. Loved that the site is in easy walking distance of Beverley, which is a really nice little town to look around. I will recommend to friends and we will return!!

Friendly campsite in great location for cycling

Just what we were looking for on our first trip away for months. Peaceful site, friendly welcome and with easy access from motorway and close to Beverley Town Centre. Facilities spotlessly clean and good precautions had been put into place ensuring only one pitch used the facilities at a time (this worked fine and we never had to wait). There was really good information on local bike routes and good off-road paths to get you out of town and onto quiet lanes.

A simple, quiet site with excellent facilities

We stayed for four nights at Butt Farm in our micro-camper with awning, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our pitch was slightly sloping but not so much as to cause any kind of issue, and it came with delightful neighbours in the form of barn owls! The toilets, showers etc. were very clean and the recycling facilities were excellent. Our only criticism would be with regard to the sheets available in reception detailing local walks (which might have made sense to whoever wrote them, but which could be made much more user-friendly for their intended audience.)

1st trip after lockdown

Lovely friendly site, with excellent facilities and very well organised under the current situation. We had a 2 night stay and luckily had sunshine. Walked to Beverley and back which was a long walk but nice, although there is a bus stop at the end of the road. Well looked after site will definitely return.

Lovely peaceful site

Greeted on arrival by friendly informative owner. Lovely site with everything you need parked our motorhime right next to a field full of sheep and cows or I think they might have been bulls. The other half loved having them so close as they are so curious and come right up to the fence where you are parked to see what you are doing. Hired a firepit which is great as the logs and kindling get delivered to your pitch for you, and a lovely touch of marshmallows. Its a shame it started to rain. We biked it into Beverley along the cycle route which was very pleasant and easy to do. Beverly is a lovely town and well worth a visit. Overall a very nice place to stay and would certainly return. Thank You.

Well kept site very close to Beverley

Staying in our motorhome, other than my Daughter, none of us used the facilities so I can't comment on those but the fact that my Daughter showered every day means that they must have been good. The site is very quiet when it should be with the lovely buzz of kids playing during the day. The Cockerel one morning woke most of the camp site at 5.30am but you are staying on a farm, so it goes with the territory even if it is inconvenient. Morrisons and B&M less than 1km away and Beverley City Centre is bikeable for speed or a nice long leisurely walk. Will definitely be staying again as we have family in Beverley.

Excellent site, super friendly

We love Butt Farm, have been several times. It’s a lovely clean friendly site. Ollie and Jen are really lovely and we always feel very welcome. Facilities are really clean and we felt very safe with their extra Covid plans in place. 35 min walk into Beverley, 10 minute walk to supermarket. Great site, would def recommend.

lovely campsite with friendly owners

we are new to camping and choose Butt farm as a practice run for the night, on arrival the winds where horrendous, we were greeted by Oly at the reception who showed us where the pitch was and asked if we needed any help, even help to erect our tent if needed since it was so windy, he filled us with all the information we needed and advised that the shower rooms were to be used on a per pitch basis due to COVID-19. Upon using the facilities we found them to be immaculate, with cleaning products left for each pitch to use before and after use, there was also hand sanitiser around for use, we felt very safe. Such a lovely, small, and friendly place where we are sure to visit again for a longer period to enjoy the surrounding areas. Thank you for having us.

Great campsite

Lovely run campsite with excellent facilities. Great location just south of Beverley, about 50 minutes walk into town centre. Thank you Oly and Jen for great stay this February even though we had a storm every weekend. Will definitely return. Andy and Karen

We stayed in the 3 little pigs pod in February 2020 for 2 nights,It’s a wonderful, cosy warm, clean & well equipped pod, Oly & Jen have made the site lovely and the site has good facilities for camping. We had a great time along with our Grandson and were made to feel welcome. We will be making a return visit to the pod. Highly recommended. Gail & Steve

Very friendly campsite .......

....... close to the historic market town of Beverley. Although we only stayed one night, in the midst of Storm Dennis, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The campsite is well set out, there is everything you might need and the toilet/shower facilities are excellent (and warm too - much needed at the time of our visit). Hopefully, we will be able to return in summer when we can really enjoy the lovely views. PS: we had a quick look at rhe glamping lodge before we left - it's lovely.

Friendly, clean and level

Friendly hosts. Clean and tidy facilites. Brilliant level pitches. Very nice and good value for money.

We stayed here for a week, it was fab. Excellent facilities, really clean and in a great location for getting around the area by public transport plus nice walks into Beverley and a good supermarket nearby. Friendly Site

Second time we have visited this small and friendly site. Owners very welcoming and helpful. An excellent site for visiting Beverley and the surrounding areas. (45 minute walk into the lovely market town of Beverley), or there is a bus stop a short walk from the site. Also a Morrisons within 15 minutes walk/5 minutes by car

Pleasant stay

Nice camp site although a bit wet due to bad weather but in easy reach of Beverley, good facilities enjoyed my site

Good facilities with level pitches and helpful owners

Pleasant and quiet farm site with great facilities and open aspects, though during our stay the weather was appalling and we could not take full advantage of the site. The ground was so water logged that water and electric could only be accessed by wading in spongy grass with water up to the ankles. Weather was extreme but would benefit from better drainage. Conveniently situated for travel to Beverley, Hull and surrounding areas, but usually a car ride (unless you have bikes, of course). Price was at the top end of what I would expect to pay for a farm site.

A great camp site in a good location

A relaxed feel to the site, but well organised. Loved the fact that they had printed out info on local walks from the site. The pigmy goats and chickens made us smile.

Another excellent week!

This was my second visit to Butt Farm. It really is a lovely site - we stayed for a full week again and enjoyed visiting Beverley and surrounding areas. Ideal for visiting the historic town of Hull. (Wrongly maligned in my opinion) Will definitely return to Butt Farm!

Lovely site with everything you need

Very well organised site. Lovely location a short walk into town with a supermarket just around the corner. The field is nice and flat with decent sized pitches, as it wasn't full they'd also done a good job of spreading everyone out so we weren't all crammed in together. Shower block was lovely and clean - if people would have closed the door it would have been nice and warm too. Couldn't fault the facilities and everything was very well kept, we'll definitely go back.

Stayed 2 nights in our motorhome. What a lovely site. Tucked away in a perfect location. Spotless facilities and had lots of tourist information. They’ve added lots of excellent extras like fridge, freezer, dog wash and the cute little goats. The owner was lovely and really helpful. Highly recommend.

Perfect peace and quiet.

This was our first time visit to the site. It was August Bank Hol weekend so reasonably full but never felt in any way crowded.. Apart from some obscure adults only Caravan Club site in the middle of nowhere I can honestly say I have never visited a quieter more peaceful site, the 10.30pm no noise seems to universally obeyed. Spoke to a lady in the reception shepherds hut when we thought we might have guests, could not have been more friendly or helpful. An important bonus for some visitors is the dog walking direct from the site. Lovely country side to walk through particularly if you walk to Risby and on to Beverley Westwood. Ease of access to the site is very good from the main road into Victoria Road and then into the sites own private drive. If you want to visit the coast i.e. Scarborough or Brid. leave your car at Beverley Rail Stn. Only £6.00 for the day but you get £3.00 off your rail ticket when you present your parking receipt.. One final point and it most definitely is not a criticisim but merely a constructive suggestion. The size of the loo's and showers is, I realize govern'd by the size of the available building space but as it is now possible to purchase coffee and croissant from the visiting mobile truck would it be a possibility to have a Parisian Vespasienne (pissoir) outside the gents to alleviate the crossed legs when the two cubicles are in use , could be a first for the East Riding :-) Would I visit again ?. Big yes without doubt.

Fab bank holiday camping

Lovely campsite, clean facilities, well organised. Jen gave us loads of advice about beaches and restaurants.

Plenty of space each on this lovely, quaint, quiet little farm site. It is well run and organised with good clean facilities, and plenty recycling options, yet it still has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There is welcome stretch of farm track to let dogs off leads. We drove in to Beverley as we were short for time on our two night stay, it is a very pretty town with plenty of shops and the Minster is well worth a visit. Would gladly recommend. Many Thanks, Carol.

Lovely small & friendly campsite

We have just returned from 2 nights at Butg farm. We really enjoyed our stay, facilities we fantastic. Toilets/showers really clean! The campsite itself is spacious and not over crowded. Oly & Jen were happy to help or just advise if and when needed. Only reason it’s not a 5 star is because it’s close the a busy A road, and you can hear the traffic in the distance. It’s not a problem at all but just not what you want when away relaxing amongst beautiful greenery. We will definitely be visiting again

Response from Butt Farm

Thank you very much for your kind review - we look forward to welcoming you again soon :)

Big thumbs up

We had a very pleasant and relaxed overnight stay at Butt farm and would definitely return. The site was very easy to find. We arrived when the reception was closed, but it was really clear which pitch we were booked onto: hardstanding pitch 4. We did use our chocks to level us out at the rear. There were quite a few vans and caravans on the site, but it didn’t feel crowded at all. We enjoyed the view over the field. We had paid when we booked online, so it was a nice surprise that Jen made the effort to come and see that we were okay. She was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions. The facilities were great: as another reviewer has said, they are rustic in a good way. Everything was kept clean and I had a lovely hot shower. The information provided was very thorough and thoughtfully done. Had we been staying longer we would have really appreciated this. We were very taken by the wee goats, Billy and Gruff, not to mention the chicks. I love the idea of a ‘film in a field’ (Bohemian Rhapsody - Sept 21) and would definitely be up for joining in with this (or another film).

Lovely site in a fab location

We stayed 3 nights on this lovely farm campsite. The facilities were rustic in a nice way, nothing felt commercialised but the loos and showers were clean and the resources available to guests had a personal feel. The site has great local walks which the owners helpfully provide guides for and it’s just round the corner from Beverley, a historic town with great shops and plenty of places to eat. We also ventured out to the Humber Bridge and Flamborough Head, both of which are not too far away. We’ll be back for sure, we were looking for a good site within a few hours from home where you can just get away to for a few nights.

Lovely 2 night stay

We planned to go into Hull and visit The Deep so decided to stay a few days. Butt farm is brilliantly located for exploring. The site is easy to access, the plots are well spaced and great facilities. Lovely vibe to the site, loved meeting Billy and Gruff (the goats) and Mrs White and her chicks, everyone welcome. Visited Beverley, half hour walk, lovely town and walks across the countryside. Big thumbs up!!! 🐐🐐🐥🐤

Traditional site in lovely location

Stayed 2 nights in our motorhome ( our tent days are over😊) pretty little site in a good location , easy check in we arrived just before 1but a board told us which pitch we were on . Water on pitch and although hard standing the rest is grass , plenty of space between pitches . Toilets and showers just two each bulls & heifers basic but adequate hot water plentiful and good shower Pizza can visited Sat night a new venture I think but hopefully will do again great eating out alongside the hired fire pit . Friendly owners keen to make sure we enjoyed our stay . We walked into Beverley but a bit of a trek , taxi back . Beverley is a really lovely little town lots of little independent shops and some more familiar nice choice of bars and restaurants . Butt Farm is definitely on my will visit again list.

Great little campsite

Great campsite with generous pitches, showers, toilets and a great wash up area - loads of fresh water points too. Hosts could not have been more friendly and worked really hard to make sure everyone had what they needed. I liked that this was a quieter campsite with families playing cricket and board games alongside couples just minding their own business over a glass of wine. A pizza van came on site Saturday night for anyone not wanting to cook and the pizzas were restaurant standard. This place is in a lovely location with great walks and cycle routes on the doorstep. We couldn’t have asked for more and will definitely be back.

A lovely few days away

We have just got back from 4 nights at Butt Farm and would firmly recommend this lovely little camp site. Clean heated shower/toilet block, plenty of hot water, always loo roll and soap. Good washing up area and even fresh eggs to buy for your breakfast. Oly, the owner was very friendly and gave us suggestions for local walks and places of interest, we walked into Beverley one day and drove to Fraisthorpe beach on another. Morrisons is only a 10 minute walk away. We camped on a grass Pitch with electric hook up, pitches are a good size. We will definitely be returning 😊 Amanda and Tony Nottinghamshire

The Shepherds Hut/Pod is a quality build in a peaceful, rural spot

We loved the solid oak quality fittings & design. The straw insulation meant the pod retained it's heat & didn't feel damp. Adjacent to the cow & sheep fields was delightful. The only downside was that the ensuite bathroom was too restricted in size for my husband. It was small (obviously ) but fine for me. My husband being a seasoned camper was happy to use the general campsite shower facilities. The recommended walks were an added bonus.

Great location, excellent facilities.

Stayed here last weekend for a visit to Beverley. Our first visit but not the last. The site is easy to find, our name and pitch # was written at the entrance and the toilet / washrooms / showers were spotless. There are recommended walks and activities on the wall of the washroom, also a bus timetable and taxi numbers. We walked the 35 mins into Beverley which is a great market town similar ( but smaller ) to York. After visiting a few pubs and a fantastic Japanese restaurant, the bus back was £1.40 and it stops at Victoria Rd - just a 5 min stroll back to the site. Many thanks to Jen & Olly - Fantastic site.

Beautiful place, lovely owners, good access to Beverly and walks

Site is lovely. A little bit open so breezy at times but pitches are great and vicinity to walks is excellent. The owners are very attentive and stop by for a chat with everyone to welcome them. Chickens roaming free, sheep and cattle in surrounding fields. Maybe I'm being over critical but the only reason I couldn't give 5 stars were the showers were one temperature only (my partner said they never got hot but I showered in the van), and the pitches (although they had power and water) didnt have a grey water point on pitch. Apart from that I really couldn't fault it. We would definitely like to return in the future.

Brilliant site

We have stayed here 3 times now, and each time we leave feeling so relaxed and can’t wait to book again. The site has all the facilities you could need and is always very clean and tidy. Peaceful site with good facilities.

Butt farm is a very nice site, the plots are marked out well although the notice board at the entrance says to pitch to the right of the number this is obviously for the people pitching on grass rather than the hardstanding pitches. There`s no issue with people having to hang around for you to arrive as your details and pitch are on display when you turn up, you just go to your plot and connect up. There are plenty of water taps around so filling your tank isn`t a problem. The facilities are nice and clean although I would prefer the option to adjust the shower temperature (free to use) as it was a little cool for me but each to their own and I think there are very few places where the temperature can be changed. Although the camp is quite close to a major road there is very little noise. The entrance track to the site only has a couple of passing places which could cause problems. Beverley is a great place to visit and it`s very bicycle friendly. I`m sure we`l be back.

Toilet and shower facilities

Very easy to find. Toilet and shower facilities were very good, a bit quirky and very clean. Men's block could do with more hooks and perhaps a chair or a bench like there is in the ladies? Washing up, information and rubbish areas located in farm buildings and all to a high standard. Fridge and freezer available to use too, honesty box available for use of these. Would definitely stay there again but only concern would be when the site is full, 2 toilets and 2 showers only in each block might lead to queuing?

Great small site, great clean facilities and easy arrival/bookin

Great for going for drink in Beverley; 35 minute walk or get the bus from Victoria Road. Supermarket nearby as well. Great little site, very clean and tidy!

Wonderful site with very helpful owners.

At the time we visited they had opened the WW2 anti aircraft battery for the heritage weekend which was very interesting and free of charge for the tour. They also have different activities on at different times and go that extra mile to make your stay an enjoyable one. I would have give it a 5 star rating but the only negative was the showers had no control for the temperature and I personally would have preferred them to be hotter. As they are improving the site all the time it would be nice if they could incorporate a Motorhome service point. Would most certainly return as lovely site - well done.

Super site in an ideal position

Our stay at Butt Fram was for 9 nights; we had a "tourist" type agenda which included visits to Beverley, Hull and other places and also other sites - the coast and buildings of all ages. We arrived and set up the caravan according to the clear instructions and during the afternoon met Jan who welcomed us. The site is well managed; the toilet block is well maintained and the facilities there, and around the site, are good - all well labelled leaving you in no doubt where things - rubbish and recycling - should be but not in an officious way. A useful utility area contains a refrigerator and freezer and there is a reference area too with maps etc.. We will definitely be returning!

5th time staying at Butt Farm and still my favourite campsite!

Stayed for 3 nights with my two Nieces, aged 6 and 2. First time camping for the 2 year old and the site could not be more perfect for little ones. We stayed onsite the whole time we were there and the kids were entertained with chickens, cows, Tiger the cat and plenty of space to play. No playground needed!! They really enjoyed looking for fairies in the wildflower patch. We were pitched up next to a lady that was also camping solo with 2 kids, not sure if this was intentional but we couldn't have asked for better tent neighbours and made some lovely new friends that we hope to meet up with again. The quiet after 10.30pm rule always seems well adhered to on the site which I really like as it keeps things peaceful for bedtime. Lovely sunsets and although we didn't do any this time there are some great walks from the campsite. Butt Farm is only 10 minutes from my home but the beautiful setting feels like I could be anywhere!

Amazing 3 night stay

I booked at the last minute and didn't have my card with me to pay, Olly was most accommodating with the booking allowing me to pay on arrival, I was met by Jen on my arrival on the Friday evening and given all relevant information, the site, toilets etc are spotless and cleaned each day, there are great little features like a fridge and freezer to keep beers and food cold, the site was quiet and extremely flat I was that impressed I stayed the Sunday night too,I cant speak highly enough of this site and the Owners, I would score this 98 out of 100 and recommend to anyone

Great site run well by caring entusiastic owners.

Spent three nights here. Plenty of cycle paths locally. Bus stops for Beverley or Hull Interchange about 15/20mins stoll away. Public footpath from the site to a nearby village (pub). Not enough time for us to fully explore.. Interesting World War 2 history right here on the farm. Overall, a lovely young site with two very forward thinking people in charge. We have already made plans with to return soon.

Good facilities

Enjoyed camping in this little site. Good shower block and utility. Only down side is the free roaming chickens, camping with a dog which would like to eat one isn’t ideal. Especially when they’re so tame, they poop all around the tent pitches so not ideal for small children or bare feet.

Love it. Beautiful, relaxing very well run campsite. Spent 5 peaceful days here, and looking forward to our return.

Lovely stay and made to feel very welcome

We were staying as part of a group and easily accomodated so as we were all next to each other. Lovely big grassy pitches, nice clean facilities and a warm welcome from the owners who gave us lots of advice about walks, cycles and bus services into Beverely. We hired one of the wood burners and sat out til late watching the lovely sunset. Will be back! Thanks

Great family camping.

My two boys (7 & 10) and I have just enjoyed 2 nights on Butt Farm. What a super site! For us, in particular, the large area of grass in front of the pitches meant all the children had plenty of space to play without the non stop 'Mind the tent!' reminders!! With fire pits in the evenings, they played until it was too dark to see. The site facilities are clean, warm and well thought out. Oly pointed us in the direction of a super beach, checking the tide times for us, and it was touches like that that made our stay so enjoyable. We definitely have plans to visit again. Thank you.

Very friendly site with excellent customer service from the owners

We were due to camp with our 4 and 6 year olds at the end of March but the weather turned horrid. We got a lovely e-mail from the owners with an update on conditions at the site (very wet) and offering us the chance to re-book. Changed to May with no hassle. Had a lovely carefree long weekend and made the most of the scenic walk into Beverley. Arrival and departure were easy and there is plenty of information available while you're on site. Clean and tidy facilities with loads of hot water. One tiny thought is that the site could possibly benefit from an additional toilet and shower for busier times. A great little site. We would definitely stay again and have recommended Butt Farm to our friends. Thank you Jen and Oly.

Wonderful and very friendly site

Had a brilliant overnight in our motorhome. So friendly and also environmentally sound too. Loads of hot water! Open fields to two sides and if you are lucky a sunset.

Beautiful small site with seamless arrival process and cleanliness!

Great to just arrive and get pitch and the could go out immediately! Everything well presented and clean, with good signs/directions and information room. Had everything we needed and lovely outlook with cows in field, when awoke in the morning. Will definitely be back as easy to get into Beverley, which is fantastic! Think we will be regular visitors to this site and already planning next trip, when I think we will get the bus into Hull

Lovely peaceful site

Lovely site. This is our 2nd visit, we came 2 yrs ago when theyd first opened. Clean facilities all round. Undercover pot wash area with plenty of leaflets with suggestions for walks. Fresh eggs for sale with honesty box. Nice walk into Walkington, over fields, where there's 3 pubs. Pleasant walk into Beverley. We will be back next year, keep up the good work.

Butt Farm is a great wee site

This was our second visit to Butt Farm. The owners are friendly and helpful but blessedly none interventionist. The regulations are clear and reasonable. The site is very clean, well resourced and peaceful. The only issue the site has is that in periods of heavy rainfall the grass pitches are not possible - a problem we encountered in Northumberland as well. We had booked a hard standing pitch so not a problem. It is very easy to get into Beverley from the site - a 20 minute walk or a short car journey. It is easy to travel by public transport or by car/van to lots of local and unsung beautiful places in east Yorkshire. There is a friendly new addition in Tiger the cat who loves to check out the campers and is willing to be petted and is not averse to a little edible treat.

Wonderful weekend break

Just back from a fabulous weekend break at Butt Farm. It's a lovely small campsite with all the amenities you need. Clean toilet and shower block. Decent power showers. Even a dog wash for your for legged friend. It's family run and there's always someone around to offer help or advice on the local area. There's plenty of walks straight from the site and just a short drive to a beach. Extra thanks to Ollie for taking time to show our grandson Kade around the farm. He hasn't stopped telling everyone about it. Looking forward to coming back when the weather is warmer 😀

Fabulous Friendly site!

We stayed at Butt Farm for 5 nights over the Easter weekend as a family with 3 adults, 2 children and a dog on a tent pitch. The site was easy to find with the brown tourism signs helping us to not miss the turning off the main road. Upon arrival at the site, our names were clearly on the board with pitch number however Oly happened to be around, immediately made us feel welcome and talked to us about which pitch might be best for us. We were expecting bad weather during our stay and we certainly had a lot of rain and wind! The sun and a rainbow did make an appearance but we were very glad of the spotlessly clean and super warm toilet block. The showers and hot water were plentiful and helped make our stay that little bit cosier! The dog wash was also a great facility although we were probably more impressed with it than the dog was! There is a fabulous utility area with washing up sinks, fridge and freezer and the walls are covered with maps and useful information about the local area. It was great to see some of the suggestions separated in to 'dog friendly' and 'kid friendly' - exactly what we needed. There are some printed off maps too of local area walks (small donation to honesty box) and we used one and were able to follow it fine for a walk around Beverley. Jen and Oly were welcoming and friendly every time we spoke to them. They make themselves available when needed without being intrusive and Oly checked we were ok a few times with regard to the weather which was really kind. He was also kind enough to show the children the 3 and 4 day old calves which they loved. Another lovely touch was the Easter eggs left outside the tent! The site did get muddy and wet which was expected but Oly did a great job in trying to sweep water away and some of the paths have wood chip on which helped enormously. We were very impressed that regardless of all the rain and mud, the toilets were always clean - Oly and Jen must have camping fairies to help out! The site is well situated being only a couple of minutes drive from a supermarket and not much further to the town centre. We also drove to the Humber Bridge country park which was only around 15 minutes away and there is plenty more to explore locally! We had a great few days at Butt Farm and even though it is a fair distance from home for us (4.5 hours) we are sure we will be back!

Another fantastic wkend at Butt Farm!

Enjoyed yet another fantastic wkend at Butt Farm, more changes from last year more electric hook ups & a fancy new site map! Site is lovely & clean & fresh eggs off the farm & during summer there’s usually home made buns/cakes! The owners Oly & Jen are so welcoming & friendly always pop over to check everything is ok when you arrive & during your stay. Even the easter bunny dropped by to leave us some Easter eggs! Keep up the good work Jen & Oly thanks again & see you soon!

Butt Farm an amazing little site on the outskirts of Beverley

A fantastic little site run by Jen and Oly who are very welcoming and helpfull. Lovely clean toilet blocks, EHU and mains water on certain hardstandings. As it is a working farm there are always cattle and chucks to wake up to in the morning and Norman the main bull is a handsome grand lad who came to see us each morning of our stay. We would highly recommend this site it is lovely and a great little country side retreat that we will be returning to very soon.
