****WINTER OPENING - We are open from November - March however please be aware there is no showers open*** Set on a traditional family-run farm in rural Norfolk, Snettisham Meadows is on the outskirts of the pretty village of Snettisham and short drive away from North Norfolk's beautiful white sandy beaches. Animal-mad campers, form an orderly queue please, as this 329-acre farm has several attractions up its sleeve for you, including meet-and-greets with pigs and ponies, lamb feeding in spring and deer safaris. There’s also a dog paddock for rent so four-legged companions can have a frisk around, and an area on the camping field is reserved for guests with dogs. Campfires and barbecues are permitted and you can borrow firepits from the site owners. Logs are also available to buy. White House Farm Campsite, Wardlow

60 units · Motorhomes, Tents4 acres · Wardlow, England
What a little Derbyshire gem: back to basics Whitehouse Farm Campsite is a simple site in a most scenic setting five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tideswell. The site’s central location in the Peak District National Park means it’s a top spot for those who want to ramble or ride bikes – several circular trails leave from Tideswell and the traffic-free Monsal Trail is a five-minute drive away. And there’s plenty more activity if you require it too, as activity centres nearby can sort you out days of horse riding, abseiling, climbing and caving. All this activity isn’t mandatory, of course – this is an equally fine location for days pottering off to local pubs, pigging out on pudding in Bakewell or taking a leisurely stroll around the Chatsworth Estate, 20 minutes away. And if even that’s too much, you’d be welcome to spend some time loafing about on site: there’s heaps of space here, and as facilities have been kept quite minimal (just showers and toilets) there should be a good serving of peace and quiet to go with it all. Guests are welcome to light up a barbecue or campfire for cookouts and keeping warm; Tideswell’s the place for supermarket supplies, and it’s also handily got a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs for days when your firelighting skills aren't up to much.

Campsites near Skegness guide

Overview

Skegness is a charming coastal town that greets campers with a sandy beach, lively pier, and high-speed fun at Skegness Raceway. On top of all that, visitors have their pick when it comes to campsites. Choose from rustic grass pitches with rustic amenities, fully-equipped caravan parks, and one-of-a-kind rentals like refurbished wooden wagons. Then, get lifted on the rope course in Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or have a leisurely stroll along one of its many walking trails. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve calls all birdwatchers to its towering cliffs and diverse landscape, while Rutland Water offers an epic lake-top waterpark, iconic trout fishing, and lots of boat rentals.

Where to go

Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Savour classic English countryside views on a trip through the sweeping hills of Lincolnshire Wolds AONB. Take to Lindsey Trail for walking, cycling, and horseback riding, or enjoy heart-racing fun on the high ropes course in Wild Pines Park. Stay overnight in nearby Lincolnshire on a grassy hillside with views of Belvoir Castle. Pet-friendly bell tents are also available with shower facilities or opt for a one-of-a-kind stay in a renovated wagon that has access to bathrooms and a firepit.

Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve

Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve is a well-known bird observatory, showcasing 100-foot high chalk cliffs and dozens of migratory bird species. The landscape features saltwater marshes, lagoon areas, sandy beaches, and grass-filled meadows. Snuggle into a mini wooden lodge with views of Steeping River in close proximity to the reserve. A private deck with patio furniture and a hot tub makes it even more welcoming after a day of exploring. There are also many caravan parks located just outside the reserve boundary that feature full hookups, dump stations, and wifi.

Rutland Water

Stretching over 4,200 acres, the Rutland Water area is a popular summertime destination with abundant aquatic activities. Slip and slide through the waterpark, fish for trout in the reservoir, or set sail to explore the man-made lake on canoes, kayaks, SUPs, and row boats, which are all available for hire through local companies. Then, reserve a grass pitch at a rugged farm campsite with firepits and picnic tables, or drive the motorhome into a holiday park with full hookups.

When to go

Summer in Skegness has the warmest temperatures of the year, though rain is still common. January and February are coldest, so look for heated lodges and glamping pods with wood-burning fireplaces in winter. Anglers should plan to visit Rutland Water from March until early June. And though Gibraltar Point gets flocked with migratory visitors year-round, campers looking for particular species should check which seasons they come through the area.
