Safari tent glamping in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds within the beautiful grounds of Fir-combe Hall. You can even bring your horse along!

It's easy to see the beauty of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The rise and fall of North-East England's chalky landscape give the place a rural sereneness where a young poet-to-be Alfred Tennyson spent his childhood rambling through the countryside. Clad in a pair of classic 19th-century walking boots, for him, like many others, it is a uniquely inspiring place.

Set in the 16-acre grounds of Fircombe Hall, Glamp-in-Style is, as the name suggests, an altogether more modern way to enjoy the scenery. This campsite's canvas abodes come in the form of large, pre-pitched safari tents, divided inside into a number of different rooms. Luxury shower room with proper flushing loos. Each bed room has its own comfy beds and furnishings. Open plan large living area in the front and a veranda you can open up to the outside world. There's a campfire pit and BBQ for late night marshmallow sessions and ample space in the meadow beyond for little ones to play safely.

On the edge of the village of Tetford, the site is known not only for the enticing footpaths and walking opportunities but also the quiet country roads and bridleways. As a result the campsite also offers 'Glamp-in-Equine-Style' holidays where you can bring along your own horse to ride. Trundle here with your horse-box and you can graze your horse in the campsite's neighbouring meadow before enjoying the scenery on four feet rather than two.

The historic county capital of Lincoln is within easy driving distance, while the coast and seaside towns of Skegness and Cleethorpes are also less than an hour away. Throw in the villages of the Lincolnshire Wolds, the county wildlife park and National Trust-owned Gunby Hall & Gardens and you'll find there's plenty to keep you busy. So much to do, so little time!

Beautiful stay!
We loved our weekend here, the views were beautiful, and everything was peaceful and quiet. We were able to find walking trails very close by to take the dogs on, and the kids really loved the games in the garden. Everything was clean and we felt very welcomed.

Me and my girls had a perfect break here, it was windy weather but we really enjoyed the change of scene and all the tent had to offer. We loved the privacy and such lovely sunrises and sunsets. We will absolutely come again.

Set in the glorious Lincolnshire Wolds we enjoyed spectacular views & serene surroundings. Exactly what we needed to escape the maddening crowds & covid restrictions. We were greeted & briefed by Rose & Graham, such helpful, friendly hosts. The quality safari tent had all the luxuries & we had charging units for devices, a combi boiler (good shower), wood burner, BBQ pizza oven, Blankets galore & comfy bedding. Ice boxes & a bag of marshmallows for s'mores were a welcoming touch. Highly recommend Anderby Creek beach (between Maplethorpe & Skegness)- only 30 minutes away, & visits to Louth & Lincoln. As a family of 5 we were very comfortable & wish we had stayed longer. Highly recommend pre-ordering a meat and salad/Vege pack from Mansion Farm/Tetford longhorns, down Clay lane, who deliver their delicious food to us at the site. We also took our own bread flour packs to make pizza in the pizza oven. We took our cricket set and enjoyed family games with the neighbouring tent - a comfortable distance away. If you're looking for a get away from everything in comfort then Lincolnshire Glamping/Glamp in Style at Fir-combe Hall is a must.

For our first experience in glamping having previously camped in our own tent, this was a huge improvement. The safari tents we well proportioned with comfortable beds, shower, toilet and kitchen/dining/living area with all necessary equipment. There were plenty of addtional touches such as solar panels for charging phones, outdoor toys for the children and an amazing outdoor firepit with built in pizza oven. The location was set back in the corner of the field and very peaceful. We had clear nights and the star scape was amazing with no light polution. Graham and Rose made us feel very welcome. I've very much recommend if you want to switch off and relax.

Nearby attractions

The surrounding Lincolnshire Wolds offer excellent walking and cycling opportunities. Tennyson's birthplace, Somersby, is 2½ miles away (or a little shorter if you walk). There's nothing there specifically open to the public that's related to him but there is plenty of information and the old buildings and church (where his father was the rector) are pleasant to wander around. Louth (9 miles away) is considered the Wolds' real 'gateway town' located at the foot of the hills where they meet the Lincolnshire Marsh. It's got a nice cluster of independent shops and cafés. In the opposite direction, try exploring Woodhall Spa (10 miles away). Noted for its mineral springs and its Second World War association with the RAF 617 Squadron, the town is also well known for it's independent cinema – The Kinema in the Woods (01526 352166). It dates from 1922 and is the only fully-functioning cinema in the UK to employ back projection.

Food and drink

BBQ packs and essentials can be bought on site. The nearest pub is the White Hart Inn (01507 533255) in Tetford but it's worth heading a tiny bit further to the Massingbird (01507) 480492) in South Ormsby (4 miles from the campsite) – relaxed but cosy with good local ales and and tasty fare.
