New Farm Holidays

West Fen, Lincolnshire, England
1 acre hosted by Carolyn E.
Organic farm-based, off-grid camping with individual campfires
Tucked away within the 30 acre Ostler's Wood in deepest rural Lincolnshire, New Farm Holidays awaits those looking to really get-away-from-it-all. Comprising two stunningly-located sites, the first, catering for tents and timber pods, is a tranquil, tourer-free zone, while its sister site (six miles coastwards) offers easy access, electrical hook-ups and even an Indian takeaway that delivers to your door.

For the campers, a secluded, pondside woodland clearing provides a peaceful sunspot and space for just two privileged tents, two pods and a glamping bell tent. Two further spacious tent pitches are available in the fields overlooking the rolling Lincolnshire countryside.

The camping pods and bell tent (featuring mains electricity) offer a hassle-free camping option. If you prefer to travel light, the Mighty Oak package provides all the crockery, cutlery, utensils and saucepans you need for an additional tenner. You can even enjoy a home-cooked meal of farm-reared produce delivered direct to your tent or pod door courtesy of wonderful host Carolyn. And with no surrounding light pollution, you'll be in for some serious stargazing as you warm yourself next to your own personal firepit.

The 1000 acre farm has been in the family since the 1700s, becoming certified organic in 1988, and producing organic cereals, vegetables and beef. You can see the farm at work by following the footpath that runs through the farmyard and there are lots of woodland walks to explore. You can also try your hand at falconry with the Hawk Walk, taking a stroll through Ostlers Woods while the Harris Hawks follow, flying gracefully through the trees above.

The historic town of Boston lies just down the road. The town's St Botolph's church (affectionately known as The Stump) is said to have the highest non-cathedral tower in the world and anyone with a head for heights should scale the 365 steps and enjoy the view at the top.

With a rich cultural history, vast areas of unspoilt natural beauty and some classic English seaside resorts a short distance away, there's lots to fill your time here. But back at site, New Farm Holidays offers you the chance to enjoy the ultimate in escapism and the opportunity to take life a little more slowly.
