Love me some North Lees campsite

Friendly and helpful team at the reception - the facilities are kept clean and the hot water doesn't fail. The campsite is conveniently located for those who don't have a car: a short walk to Stanedge, Hathersage and the Scotsman Pack Inn - great way to wrap up the evening after a full day spent outside. Our go-to when going to the Peak District and highly recommendable to anyone who is keen to explore the beauty of the area.

Shame about the attitude of other guests

This is my first stay in a pod but I have camped a lot here before. The pod was lovely, it had lighting, a heater and plug to charge my phone. I didn’t get an email with the code number to get the pod key and I had to chase it, after driving 2 hours the office wasn’t open and I wasn’t tall enough to see the key safe so another guest had to help me! The pod was warm and comfortable and in the morning I opened the door to get some fresh air. The rest of the pods were occupied by a large group and I looked up only to see a child staring into my pod. It gave me a shock because I was undressed and low and behold his father came to look for him and also had a good old gawp in at me! How rude and disrespectful. The group were also noisy and the kids were running around banging into the pod, taking pictures and just totally out of control. The other downside was the amount of young woman spending upwards of 30 minutes each in the shower. By the time the shower was free there was no hot water. Although this isn’t the fault of the site I feel they should restrict large groups, this isn’t the first time I’ve been kept awake with rowdy large entitled idiots and it’s not fair on those looking for peace and quiet.

I had a lovely stay here at north lees. I came camping alone and I felt very safe and welcome here. I found a lovely pub a 20 min walk away which did lovely food. I would stay here again in a flash!

Beautiful, quiet, perfect

Getting There

Take the A6187 eastbound toward Hathersage. After about 2 miles, turn left up Jagger Lane and then left up Coggers Lane. Watch out for the Birley Lane turn-off about 2 miles on your right. The site is about 1 mile on the left. Please do not try using a SatNav. Get the train or bus to Hathersage and it’s approximately a 30-minute walk up to the campsite. Call in advance for detailed directions.
