Meadow pitch

UK England East Anglia Suffolk Bury St. Edmunds Ling's Meadow

  • Sleeps 6 (max 4 adults, 4 children)
  • Barbecue
  • Cooking facilities
A huge circular camping pitch (12m diameter) cut into our natural 4 acre meadow, joined by a winding path to the communal area and facilities.

The Owner Says

Lay amongst the tall grass and listen to the bees with a good book and not a care in the world.
Each of the six 12m diameter pitches is at least 10m away from its neighbour giving you space to breath and relax. The pitches have their own picnic bench and fire pit. Winding paths cut into the meadow join the pitches to a large communal area with a timber framed camp kitchen, canvas dining shelter, communal fire pit, bike shelter, two compost loos and wood fired shower.
Wood and charcoal for the communal campfire and fire pits can be found for sale in the kitchen area, along with a freezer for your cool blocks and the all important supply of marshmallows. You will also find bikes available to hire, lots of maps and local information.
A meadow pitch can accommodate a maximum of four adults or two adults and four children. We provide hand sanitiser stations, allocated facilities and plenty of space for social distancing. A full risk assessment and further details can be found on our website.

Such a lovely campsite

This place is a little gem. Everything has been organised thoughtfully. The toilets are immaculate and the kitchen area is so clean and actually a nice place to do your washing up. We didn’t have great weather but were able to make use of the large communal tent to eat our pizzas that we had cooked in the pizza oven. It’s, quiet and relaxed and loads of space between pitches. There is a central space for the kids to play in and we were able to sit back and watch them from out tent. It’s all very idyllic, would like to return when the sun is out.

Lovely and peaceful

Enjoyed a 3 night stay. Very well organised during the pandemic with each pitch having its own seating area, fire, washing up equipment etc. The shared kitchen and seating area were great. It was blisteringly hot when we stayed (34 degrees) so we were glad we had taken our own gazebo for some respite from the heat as the meadow does not have much shade.... but on the flipside, it is lovely and open and you can see your children playing wherever they are!

Fantastic campsite in great remote location

Absolutely lovely stay here. Beautiful remote campsite, so much space to pitch our tent. Amazing facilities (Toilet, shower, wash-up) - probably the best camping ones I’ve been too. They’ve thought of everything, and are following the current guidelines very well. Especially loved the picnic tables and fire pit on each pit.

Perfect

We love this campsite. It was spacious, well set out and the owners are really helpful. Composting toilets and limited hot water are not for everyone, but it's eco friendly, with fire pits, recycling facilities, a pizza oven, mud kitchen for children......... And much more. We plan to come back with many relatives and can't wait

Heaven in a Campsite

We hired Ling's Meadow as an exclusive site for a birthday celebration last year and had such a wonderful time that we immediately rebooked and went this year too and we are now planning for 2020! The site is so special. It's very peaceful and feels so far removed from anywhere else. It's a small site and the pitches are well spaced from each other. The camp kitchen is amazing and we made some great pizzas in the pizza oven (assisted by Neel). The kitchen area (which is new this year) is perfect when you are there as a group or have exclusive hire of the site. The shaded seating area is a great place to enjoy your meals (in the shade, if you happen to catch the great weather like we did). All the facilities are beautifully designed and well maintained. I particularly like the environmental focus that Kath & Neel have, so the facilities are comfortable and sustainable. The glamping accommodations are lovely, especially the glorious stardome, and they are well equipped for those who want to experience the camping lifestyle without buying the whole caboodle. We can't wait to return again to this glorious campsite. I would definitely recommend it if you love eco-camping, quiet, relaxation and lots of nature!

Getting There

By car: For local traffic, Ling's Meadow is just off the B111 between Barningham and Stanton. From further afield you can reach the B111 via the A14 and then the A143. The A14 links up with the A11 and M11 from the west, the A1 from the north and the A12 from the south east. The site is only two hours from north London (one and a half on a clear run). Take the M11 and then A11 to the A14 and follow for Bury St Edmunds. Come off at Bury St Edmunds Central and follow the A143 towards Felixstowe. From south or east London it is probably quicker to take the A12 to Ipswich and then join the A14 to Bury St Edmunds. In both cases follow the A143 from the Bury St Edmunds Central exit to the B111 turn off at Stanton.

Nearest railway stations are Thetford, Diss and Stowmarket. Bury St Edmunds is only slightly further away. All have taxi ranks good bus links. Stowmarket and Diss stations have regular, direct services to and from London Liverpool Street. Thetford has regular services to and from London Kings Cross and to the north via Peterborough. There are reasonably regular bus services from Diss and Bury St Edmunds to Hepworth but times can change so it always worth checking. Both journeys take about half an hour and have buses that arrive in Hepworth between 2 and 3pm.
