About Les Rives de L'Ardèche

Suitable For

Tents, campervans, caravans, dogs – yes.

The local village of Mayres is a delightful, if fairly sleepy, place. It's easily reached on foot from the campsite. Take a stroll up the road away from the river and 450m from the campsite entrance there is a footpath on your right which leads first through a field and then through the trees to the village. If you're really adventurous you could just rock hop your way down the river instead directly from the campsite. The town has a bakery, restaurants, post-office, a nice old church and town hall and there is also a horse-riding/trekking centre too, just outside of the village (ask at the campsite reception). If you feel you've exhausted the local walking routes and river fun, hop in the car and drive to the Ray Pic Waterfall (45 minutes), visit the ruined Château de Montlaur and le Château de Ventadour (0033 4 7538 0092) or head to renowned Pont d'Arc and the famous gorges to paddle down the best of the Ardèche River on one of the well-organised kayaking trips.

Food & Drink

The campsite sells ice-creams and snacks and there is fresh bread delivered from the local bakery each morning (order the afternoon before). For everything else, walk or drive into Mayres (see above) where there are a couple of small restaurants and a bar.

Excellent campsite

Good sized pitches by the riverside. Well spaced. Good small shop with essentials, small bar and snacks/pizzas. Clean toilets with good hot showers, well lit. External power supplies dotted around the site, perfect for charging phones etc. Gas bbqs available on request and fridges. Boules area and small childrens playgound/picnic area. Very nice and helpful staff and prime location for exploring L’Ardeche, Kayaking etc. We want to come back, it had everything we needed! 👌🏻

A beautiful campsite

This campsite was a real treat, such a beautiful setting surrounding by trees and hills, very peaceful and scenic. The river alongside the campsite is lovely, the kids would clamber over rocks, find tadpoles, and we found some swimming spots - the cold water is very refreshing once you take the plunge. The surrounding area is very beautiful with walking trails and interesting towns to visit. The hosts are very helpful and friendly and there is a very warm and welcoming atmosphere in the camp. The facilities are very clean and spacious, you can use a fridge, there is paid for wifi but also excellent 4G connection. We hope to visit here again.

We loved it!

The campsite was peaceful, despite being full when we arrived. The layout with several terraces means tents are well spaced and pitch sizes are very large. The shower/toilet facilities were well kept and cleaned regularly with plenty of hot water. We prefer bread/croissants daily which we could pick up from reception each morning. Overall we really enjoyed our stay of 8 days.

Response from Les Rives de L'Ardèche

Thank you very much for this review. Thank you for your visit and kindness. We hope to see you here again.

We wished we could have stayed longer

Great campsite in fabulous location. Child and dog friendly, clean and well managed. The owners were helpful and the little shop had most basics. Bread and croissants delivered each morning if you pre order the day before. The river was great by day for exploring, rock hopping and swimming and we were lulled to sleep by it at night. Only downside was no free wifi, despite what website says, but we had enough reception to contact the outside world I’d we needed to.

Wonderful camp site

Wonderful camp site with terrific owners who could not have been more helpful. Good on site facilities, great pitch overlooking waterfall and good reasonably priced beer at bar. Vans come to site on a Thursday selling meat and fish. Short walk down side of river to local town where we would recommend a meal at L'Auberg du Pont restaurant (13.5 euros for a 3 course set meal) simple food cooked very well with friendly, helpful owners. Thanks for a lovely stay.
