About La Ferme de Croas Men

Suitable For

Tents, campervans, caravans, and dogs (on leads), large groups, young groups by arrangement (there’s plenty of room) – yes.

Morlaix hosts one of the local markets, which take place every day of the week. Only one of them is further than a 15-minute drive from the campsite, so fans of produits régioneux can get a daily fix if they fancy, and discover lovely Breton towns and villages in the process. There’s a big indoor pool with slide and jacuzzi at Plouigneau, if the weather’s awful, but otherwise there are so many beaches and coves to explore nearby – the sandy shore, surf, and sailing schools at Locquirec are recommended. Beyond lies the medieval town of Lannion and the pink-and-orange rock formations of the enticingly named Côte de Granit Rose (Pink Granite Coast) are just 25 miles (40 km) away.

Food & Drink

Whether you choose to breakfast in the atmospheric old farm cottage or chez vous, it’s a meal to savour on a farm where milk, eggs, butter, yogurt, preserves, honey, cider, and apple juice are either made right here or locally produced and can be bought at reception. Factor in local markets and this could be a real foodie treat. The Crêperie L’Hermine (00 33 2 98 88 10 91) on the quiet rue Ange de Guernisac, in the heart of Morlaix, makes a traditional Breton pit-stop after the Saturday morning market. Alternatively, go for a lunchtime treat of fresh seafood or fruits de mer on the terrace of the Brasserie de la Plage  (00 33 2 98 79 30 70) overlooking the beach and harbour at Locquirec, or stay for dinner in the swanky restaurant (00 33 2 98 67 41 02).

Relaxing Half-Term Break

We have returned from a relaxing half-term holiday at Le Ferme De Croas Men which is set in a delightful location. The owners are very relaxed, making us feel welcome and suppling us with fresh milk incredibly quickly on several occasions - small touches like this made it really enjoyable. Facilities around the farm were superb for our children who particularly liked watching the cows being milked, and helping to collect freshly laid eggs. There are lots of other animals, as you might expect on a farm, along with a couple of friendly dogs who stopped by our tent. There are various facilities to make your stay more comfortable - at the time we rarely saw anyone else using them. I was surprised at how few visitors there were staying in either tents or caravans, we were told to pick any space we liked and had a massive pitch to ourselves for the whole time. There are loads of nice places to visit and eat at in the local area and it felt like we only managed to see a few of them. Which we look forward to returning for another holiday!

so many great things about Le Ferme de Croas Men!

If you are considering camping in Brittany then you just have to stay at Le Ferme De Croas Men. We spent 7 nights here camping in August, with our two daughters (aged 7 and 2) and loved every minute of it. The owners are very relaxed and friendly and the facilities are brilliant. Once you are on the site all the 'activities' are free. There is a big trampoline which is great as a central place for kids to meet. There is the old farm, where you can see the cows being milked plus the donkeys, rabbits, pony, hens and a pig, plus guinea pigs you can play with.In the evenings there are various events, from tractor rides to Bretan dancing and a 'theatre'. They have a daily bread order (croissants, baguettes etc), plus they sell their own milk, cidre and apple juice. The campsite has varied pitches in different areas, with shade if needed. The facilities are excellent with two main blocks of toilets, showers, basins, washing up and laundry. In the campers 'kitchen' there are freezers, kettle, microwave etc. There's also free Wifi in the 'info room'. The location is fantastic with so much to do within a short drive away (Morlaix, beaches etc). Also across the road from the site is a riding school and our elder daughter went for a pony riding lesson which she really enjoyed (ended up being around 90 minutes long for just 25 euro!). There is just so much right about this site that I could just go on and on, but suffice to say we will be going back next summer. It's easy to find and is well signed from the main roads.

A wonderful holiday

We stayed at the Ferme de Croas men campsite, for a week in late June. We opted for posh camping, and stayed in the Cabin.  We have a young daughter (3 years) and it was perfect. Two bedrooms, cooking facilities and fridge, the only thing it didn't have was running water, but we were moments from the shower/sanitation block so wasn't an inconvenience....there was endless hot water, a place to wash babies/children and washing machine.

The setting is beautiful, just as you would hope rural Brittany to be. The major added bonus was the farm, you are free to walk around and meet the donkeys, rabbits, hens, pig, we even went to help collect the cows for milking. We didnt know Brittany at all before our visit, but found Ferme de Croasmen to be a great base, there are various lovely beaches to visit just 20 minutes drive away and beautiful villages.

Will definitely be back.

Getting There

Plouigneau is close to Morlaix, just off N12 between Brest and Rennes. Take the Plouigneau exit off N12, but don’t go into Plouigneau; head for Lanmeur on D64. Drive for 160 yards (150 m) and you should see the first of the pale-blue signs for the farm, 31⁄2 miles (6 km) away. Follow them and you should be fine, but if you do get lost, head for Garlan and ask there.
