Lae de Haut
Margaret and John are new to camping, but they’re no strangers to hospitality. In a bid to enjoy a more serene lifestyle, they found this small collection of farmhouses, which they converted into a lovely B&B, activities area, and a couple of budget rooms.
They wondered what they could do with the two huge fields before hitting on it: camping! One field is too steep to pitch on, but the other rises to a fantastic plateau that gives panoramic views over the Pyrénées, the village of Aramits, and beyond.
It’s a short walk to toilets and showers, but you can play all you like in a wonderful games room (with darts board, pool table, computer, wi-fi, TV, and more besides), an equipped kitchen area, and a large covered activities room with a volleyball court, climbing wall, gym, and table tennis. Oh, and did we mention the large outdoor pool?
Spain is just 15 minutes away and there’s plenty to do in the area, from visiting the second-largest cave complex in the world to hiking along the St Jacques de Compostelle path (Santiago de Compostela). Green to camping they may be, but Margaret and John have already got it all sewn up.
FacilitiesSpace for a dozen campers on the brow of the hill; 2 shaded pitches on the periphery under a tree. Hot showers and toilets. Outdoor pool, small kitchen with a fridge, hot water, shared gas cooker or gas rings and gas included. Games room, play area, activities room. A table, 2 chairs and a clothes horse for use at every pitch. Bikes to rent. BBQs provided but no campfires permitted.

La Verna, the second-largest cave system in the world is mere minutes away (003 363 788 2905). Aventure Parc have recently introduced Paint Ball, this is a superb set up with safety in mind, climbing through the tall trees and is just 5 mins away from site. Famous Tour De France routes: Cols Aubisque, Soulor, Marie Blanque and many more are peddling distance for Lae Haut. There are many rafting locations and Margaret and John can explain all and other attractions (like the petit train at Artouste) on arrival.

We John & Margaret at Lae De Haut offer 4 pitches in a quiet and peaceful location, this is why we are adults only as it suits couples who want to relax. There 2 B.B.Q areas with seating and one has views over the Pool and the valley, the other has views over the valley to the Aventure Parc.
In the yard is a shared kitchen with sink, hot water, gas cooker, two tables with chairs undercover plus Wi-Fi, this has been helpful on those wet days, just across the yard is the club room with Pool table, Dart board, board games, books and guides.
Outdoor Pool with views over the valley to the ski station of La Pierre St Martin, we do not allow food or drinks around the Pool but just 10m away are picnic tables and a B.B.Q.
From the pitches you can see marked routes for walking, mountain biking and horse trekking, these lead up to and around the Aventure Parc .
Optional extra, Exclusive use for a couple or max of 4 persons, 90 minutes session starting in the gym moving onto the sauna followed with a cold shower then into the Jacuzzi and as we close the Pool at 8.00pm you will have the pool to yourselves. Ask for details.
From Aramits, follow the signs to Aventure Parc. 1 mile (1.3 km) from the main road, the sign for Lae de Haut is on the left. Site is third house on the lane.
As Lae de Haut is well off the beaten track, you will need your own transport.
