The Owner Says

Nestled amongst the pine trees, these family friendly canvas tents are the perfect place for family holidays!

These tents include an indoor living/dining area, with a fully kitted out kitchenette and a BBQ outdoors. Shower block facilities are a short stroll away - and are all newly refurbished.

Sleeping quarters are: one double bedroom, and a second bedroom with two single beds.

Please bring your own bedding or hire these as an additional extra.

The large wooden terrace with its awning is the perfect setting for al fresco dining any time of the day, whilst admiring those beautiful pine trees!

On site there is plenty to do from the swimming pool, volley ball pitch to petanque and table tennis. There is a kids playground, and in the summer a Kids Club arranges all sorts of crafts and activities to keep the little ones entertained, including open-air cinema nights and magic shows (high season).

There is a river which runs along side the campsite – if you have your own kayak or canoe you can even canoe all the way to the ocean! (boat hire is not available on site as yet).

The beach is about a 40 minute bike ride away (bikes & child seats are available to hire from reception), definitely worth the ride, as once you arrive you are welcomed with huge white sandy beaches and beautiful ocean waves.

After all that effort and back at camp, enjoy a homemade pizza from the pizza-grill on site restaurant (July & August), either eating al fresco on the wooden decking area or taking it back to your pitch.

Order your baguette and pastries the night before so you can look forward to a tasty breakfast the next morning!

There is a small shop on site with all of the basics, but for greater choice and bank facilities these can be found just 6km away from the campsite.

The Landes is a beautiful area with a wealth of towns to visit from Seignosse to Hossegor (famous for its surfing), or Dax with its annual Feria (early August), where red berets and foulards are a must!

About Huttopia Landes Sud

Suitable For

Tents, campervans, motorhomes, caravans, families, groups, couples, pets… everyone!

Nearby

Ask at reception for information on the Vélodyssée cycle paths. They lead from the campsite through the forest to Lake Léon (5km) or further to the coast (15km), connecting Seignosse and Hossegor, both with excllent beaches. The villages of Messanges and Vieux-Boucau are also easily reached by bike. Don't miss the chance to go down the river with a boatman (enquire at reception) taking in the Courant d'Huchet Nature Reserve as you go – known as the "Little Amazonia of the Landes". The river mouth, which opens out onto Moliets beach, is an ideal place to swim.

Food & Drink

The bar-restaurant onside serves excellent homemade pizzas, along with other snacks and drinks. It's only open over the May public holidays and through July and August. There's a small grocery store for any essentials you've forgotten and a fresh bread service – order your bread and pastries the night before at reception. Locally, seek out the regional specialities: Asparagus mousseline, Landes salad with foie gras, apple tourtière with Armagnac flambé and the love/hate drink Landes pastis – served with water so that you can dilute to your taste. Local wines to look out for are Tursan, Côteaux de Chalosse, and the vins des sables.

Nice site and great pool but remote

We stayed at three different Huttopia sites throughout our two week trip in mid July and their theme runs successfully throughout all the sites we stayed at. Exceptionally clean and well looked after, great service and good food are at the core of all the sites. Pros: Great brand new pool area Not busy during our stay Tasty food if you don't feel like cooking Cons: Noisy band night through to midnight (ironic as we were told to turn our very quiet music down during the day) Remote location, Leon is a 20 minute drive Crickets are incredibly noisy during the day but you eventually get used to them We stayed in a IV Safari Tent during our stay and we really didn't get the greatest of locations being right next to a noisy services area, a terrible view and also next to the on site handy mans accommodation which meant he often over looked us during the late/afternoon evening, was surrounded by his unsightly clutter and really bought that part of the site down. If the park was full I'd understand but after day 2 I walked around the site to find the river I'd seen in various photos (more on that later) and many of the other tents were unoccupied, but we'd already settled so weren't keen to move. It really is luck of the draw as some tents and cabins have great surroundings. The site really is quite remote meaning bike rides into local Leon are on busy main roads initially and access to the water for canoeing or SUPing is via a totally different site altogether. Both of these we were lead to believe by various photos on here and the Huttopia site were accessible via the Landes Sud site...they're not! We even bought SUPs for that very purpose and assumed incorrectly that bike trails lead directly from the Huttopia site because of the photos they chose to use on their website. I'd certainly recommend the site but I wouldn't stay here again as access to the beach is too far away and even Leon and it's lake which are lovely with free parking, great local sized shop and a near daily market are a drive away, unless you plan on bringing bikes and staying out all day. The bus to the beach also runs at random times in the afternoon which wasn't suitable for our family with a three and a half year old.
